My copy of Stuttgart arrived today, and I put on Disc 1 right away, and loved it. Two hours later, I put it on again.
One thing that struck me was that this is now the fourth Widow's Taste concert release, and in all of them the bands are terrific. It's not just Art Pepper. You don't have to be an Art Pepper fan to enjoy these discs.
Back in the 60s, I respected Herbie Mann and Miles Davis for hiring young guys who were better than they were. (In rock, Spencer Davis did the same thing.) I think that Art should be given credit for finding and hiring such talented jazz musicians.
