Sandy Beveridge got a job offer he couldn't turn down, so he has retired. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/ticats-safety-sandy-beveridge-retires/article1652284/ ***** Here is an article that answers the Jarious Jackson question. It says that he is nursing a shoulder injury. It also says that the Lions have signed a fellow named Mike Reilly who threw a TD pass in 46 consecutive Div. II games. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/lions-add-quarterback-reilly-to-roster/article1652095/

Winnipeg Blue Bombers 47....Edmonton Eskimos 21 http://scoreboards.c.../final/W846.htm http://slam.canoe.ca...4/14816866.html http://www.theglobea...article1650946/ Jyles had a good day, presumably his best as a pro. If the Eskimos can't beat the last place Bombers playing without their starting QB, who can they beat? This is the first time since 1965 that the Eskimos have lost their first four games. The Esks have yet to score in the fourth quarter this season. As far as how the game went, the Bombers scored the first 26 points. Edmonton then scored the next 14, and with the momentum shift it looked like Winnipeg's lead might be in jeopardy. But it was all Winnipeg after that. ***** Calgary Stampeders 40....Saskatchewan Roughriders 20 http://www.theglobea...article1651036/ http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Football/CFL/Games/2010/07/25/14819141.html It was tied 7-7 at the half, but it was all Stampeders in the second half. The Riders were the last of the unbeatens.

Toronto Argonauts 24....British Columbia Lions 20 http://scoreboards.canoe.ca/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=canoe&page=CFL/scores/final/W845.htm http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Football/CFL/Games/2010/07/23/14811386.html http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/interception-rallies-argos-past-lions/article1650541/ For the second week in a row, the Argos snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. The Lions led for most of the game, but Byron Parker ran back an interception for a TD with 2:36 left to give the Argos the lead. Travis Lulay was very sharp in the first half but cooled off in the second. He wasn't helped by Emmanuel Arceneaux, who dropped a pass that would have gone for a TD and probably iced the game for the Lions.

About fifteen years ago I was on the phone with Cadence Magazine, ordering a year's subscription. Out of all their LP inventory, the fellow recommended the Breuker album called (if I remember correctly) a Paris, so I bought it. RIP

Montreal Alouettes 37....Hamilton Tiger-Cats 14 http://scoreboards.c.../final/W844.htm Despite the score, the Ticat defence played tough. They forced the Als to attempt 8 FGs, and Duval made 7 of them.

I once saw a woman say on Crossfire that if a man got his date drunk, it was rape because she was by definition unable to give consent. I believe that the word "rape" should be reserved for only the most serious instances. Otherwise I fear that it will dilute the seriousness of real rape. I imagine that men have lied to women in order to get laid since time began. I don't think that a woman should be going to the police saying, "I had sex with a man who lied to me." I guess my feeling is that there are things that people should not do that should not be illegal, not because they are not wrong, but because I don't think the government should be reviewing every moment of every person's life.

The owner of the Ottawa expansion franchise does not expect the team to be called the Rough Riders. Saskatchewan wants to veto the idea. Who cares what Sask thinks? The Ottawa Rough Riders were founded in 1876. http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Football/CFL/Ottawa/2010/07/21/14785301.html

Ralph Houk has died. I remember one year he managed the AL All-Star team, maybe '62, and in the ninth inning, seven of the nine players were Yankees! http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/baseball/ralph-houk-dies-at-90/article1647918/

organissimo: 2000 - 2010
GA Russell replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in organissimo - The Band Discussion
Jim, Joe and Randy, thanks for the good vibes and great music! In regard to the CDs, can't they be put on eMusic and live on forever, never going out of print? And iTunes? -
Here's an article that says that streaming sites like Napster are set to take off. http://paidcontent.org/article/419-whos-who-in-the-new-music-gold-rush/ And here's a chart of the various players. http://paidcontent.co.uk/table/unlimitedmusic

I see that I have made an error. Antonioli spent 2002-2006 teaching in Graz, Austria, but she has lived in the US other than that. She now is based in the San Francisco Bay area. She made an album with George Cables in 1985, and two during her time in Europe. This is her fourth album.

Casey Printers hurt his knee last week. Travis Lulay will start this week against the Argos. Jarious Jackson is now apparently the third string QB and will play behind Lulay. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=328093

Here's my vote: Every tune at that same lethargic tempo...and then all those alternate takes...AAAARRRGHHH! LOL, those are my only two Columbia Monks! Maybe that's why I've always thought that his Columbia albums were his worst.

Thoughts on the eBook reader
GA Russell replied to GA Russell's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Holy Toledo! Amazon has announced that over the past three months, for every 100 hardback books it sells (including books not available as eBooks), it has sold 143 eBooks (not including the free eBooks they offer). http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=176060&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=1449176&highlight=
