  1. I have these, and enjoy them all. I also have some of the George Russells from a compilation I bought when ABC owned the Riverside catalogue, and enjoy that too.
  2. Jim, I didn't ask for mine, and I got two copies! I was going to include my extra copy in my Grey Cup contest prize, but nobody cared about winning a free CD!
  3. I received the same catalogue. It should be noted that it is a sale catalogue listing CDs for one to four dollars off, with another 10% off if you order via the internet. It's not a complete list of their current ctalogue.
  4. I recall reading when Carly Fiorina was fired as CEO that Hewlett Packard broke even on its printers and made its profit on the ink.
  5. Guy, tell us what you got!
  6. This morning's USA Today has a full page devoted to the best box sets released in the past year, and one is the Cellar Door box! No mention of the delay.
  7. Later the same day... Chet Baker Live, disc 2
  8. Who is Hellyer picking to win the Grey Cup?
  9. I'm doing 100% of my Christmas shopping online this year. Most of the presents are for my sister's family, now including grandchildren, and she has agreed to wrap the presents for me. So as I see it she's doing the hard part, and all I have to do is point, click, and next month pay!
  10. Happy Thanksgiving! I'll be spending the day with my cousin's family. It was nice of her to invite me. I'll bring a bottle of wine for them to enjoy, while I pile the stuffing high!
  11. Lon, my nephew likes bossa nova, so I ordered for his Christmas present today a copy of Paula's Berimbau, on your recommendation. If he doesn't like it, I'm blaming you!!!
  12. I lie prostrate humbly before thee, O Great One! I am listening to my Mosaic Herbie Nichols for the first time in a long time, and the similarity is obvious, both with the harmonies and the touch. But wasn't Herbie Nichols too obscure to influence anybody?
  13. Too bad Canadian customs won't let my cigars go through! John, I've had a lot of trouble in the past with trying to ship cigars to Canada, and I've given up. A buddy of mine in Ottawa thinks that the customs people smoke them. He's had problems with all of his orders - it's not just me. You're still welcome to play! Show us how much you know about the CFL!
  14. Everyone is welcome to play my sixth annual Grey Cup contest, which is posted here: http://lalunacigars.com/aspboard/viewthrea...09537241&id=965 The prizes are 1) your choice of a single jazz CD from Your Music; and 2) 25 Russell Moon #1 cigars, which are aged three years. The prizes must be shipped to a US address. No knowledge is required! Just luck. Wolff won last year's contest. He won 25 Russell Moon #2s. Good luck everybody!
  15. I would like to know what right an estate has to influence a project. The contract signed by the artist should spell out the terms of how the estate gets paid, and it's not clear to me why any estate would have a right of approval over anything recorded and owned by a record company. Maybe Chuck can enlighten me.
  16. Wasn't he on the five LP Prestige date of the Chet Baker Quintet with George Coleman and Kirk Lightsey? I had two of those when I was in college. RIP
  17. Female sylist, but I have her cut it with an electric very short, so she might as well be a barber. I'm not aware of any male barbers/sylists in this area.
  18. I was thinking the same thing.
  19. Since BMG owns half of Sony BMG, I imagine that this copy protection program must have been done with their approval. So presumably if they approved it at the production level, they would approve it for their own retail outlet. Just speculation, of course. I would like to see a law requiring online retailers to prominently post a warning when a CD is copy protected. We shouldn't have to be surprised by Your Music when we receive what we've ordered.
  20. This morning's USA Today had a big article on the Sony BMG problem, and said that the Mulligan, Silver and Gordon are copy protected with the spyware.
  21. I played the Prestige LP The New Miles Davis Quintet the other night, and saw that I had noted on it that it was recorded Nov. 16, 1955. I imagine that a year from now we will see European issues of the recordings mixing the Prestige and the Columbia sides.
  22. I have the two Mosaic boxes of the Chet Baker Quartet with Russ Freeman, live and studio. At the time I placed my order Charlie Lurie told me that he he much preferred the live dates, but I think I prefer the studio.
