  1. Just read your reply Bev......guess I was wrong about this but it surely sounds promising.
  2. That's the Dutton stuff but it comes from Deram and Argo originals which are part of Universal now. Don't know if Universal reissues British Jazz too, don't think so.
  3. And the price isn't that low. Only $10 lower than the Mosiac price so why bother and order directly for Mosiac.
  4. So it's not going to be reissued by Water or another label? I know for sure MC won't do it since he dislikes it. I like it a lot but I'm a Turrentine nut and like strings.
  5. The Verve sets are issued almost at the same time as the Mosiac versions (a little later) but has nothing to do with OOP matters. The Verve sets are mainly for the EU market.
  6. Hello all, Is it the fruit of my imagination or did I see a CD issue of this nice Blue Note LP sceduled for release later this year somewhere???
  7. Just read in the newspaper he died. Sad news although he stopped playing in the 70's already and devoted his time to photography.
  8. Thanks Tjobbe that was the trick!!!
  9. and please name us a seller who ships outside Denmark.......
  10. another thing what are these new reissued digipacks like? Newly remastered too? How many in these series? etc...... I have most of them in the older cd versions so should I upgrade?? Hope not.
  11. Thanks Couw for reminding this to me......in fact my wife demanded to get a satelite dish to see some Polish television to keep up her language skills (she was fluent at it then). The W isn't pronounced as we know it but more as a V (or a soft F). The C is always pronounced as TSH with a hard T. The letters IEN are very hard to explain. It's like Dog in French (Chien) but different....... Hope this helps a litte. Namislawski's first name always will be a tong breaker for me too. Oh yeah the L (which has a dash through it in the Polish language) is pronounced as WAH (that's the best I can do).
  12. Mike: I guess noone is really going to check all the Verve's for this so maybe you can tell them to us.....
  13. Hello all, just wondering if anyone of you picked this one up online at Sony's web site. I did and it gives a good representation of the band at a live date. I saw them in Amsterdam 2 years ago. Like it very much I must say.
  14. Sorry to hear this Kevin. I on the other hand received the 2 CD's I'd order with them so nothing but positive vibes from my side. Listened to the Lovano once and it's indeed a nice session although the intonation of the straight tenor leaves something to desire at some spots.
  15. listened to it in the store I work and indeed nothing to miss..... Michael F: are you going to post the other hidden track Vere's????
  16. except for the latest batches TOCJ-95xx I believe they don't have extra tracks.
  17. nice description.....Sony Japan issue???? Usually the obi states the remastering resolution but with this series (and some others) they didn't. It's stated that it is newly remastered by the Japanese but not the bit rate. My guess it's 24 Bit, 96 kHz but don't know for sure.
  18. Couw: what's this extra Track called? On the SACD it's not there (of course).
  19. mike: please give us a hint.... are they mastersound editions, by requests or indeed "regular" verve's.
  20. I'd place 2 orders (with both 2 cd's) with them and one is already shipped (with the Lovano in question, sorry Kevin) and the other order is refunded because of non availability. So far so good but still the status of the shippied order has a dash in the status field so maybe they've shipped your's already as well Kevin. You should mail them and ask I guess.
  21. but in stead you can buy the nice newly 24 bit remastered digipack editions in the RCA Gold series (French based) which have all the extra material on it as well and sound much better.
  22. gslade: in fact this is the last one Verve remastered so now all of them are already out in the remastered Master Edition (Digipack) format. All are in the same 20 bit remastering as the complete box set of the Songbooks except this last one which is in 24 Bit, 96 kHz and thus newly remastered.
  23. I have the same problem with 3 of the 9 (I believe) discs of the Dexter Gordon Complete Prestige box (German pressing, not CC'ed). The drive just doesn't read them. I even tried another copy of the set (yes working in a Jazz record store does help....) and the same problem was there too. So that's not a CC problem but a factory defect which "corrupts" the drive. PS just tried my US Mothership and it works fine on my iMac.
  24. Wow that's great news about those VHS's. You mean the Swiss label TCB? Maybe we should start emailing them for a DVD reissue of these.
  25. Michael Cuscuna has nothing to do with the CC programme EMI Europe has so mailing or writing his is of no use. You should write to the EMI Europe head office (in London I believe) and complain there. EMI US is not using the CC at all so don't bother them with it. I agree it's a crappy way of doing business but I guess they had to invent something (which is useless after all).
