Not on the Flight Deck? If you had a really good arm you might be able to hit the flight deck from the venue!

Saw him with KC early 80s at the pier by the Intrepid in NYC- great show!!!

The Yanks completed a sweep of the Chisox today, and here's what Ozzie Guillen had to say: ''Well, we came to New York and visited the new Yankee Stadium. It is a very nice ballpark, and the hotel we stayed at was also very nice,'' manager Ozzie Guillen said. ''That's all I have to say about these last three days.'' Read more: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/...l#ixzz0Pi8LV3Ig I got a good laugh out of that.

If you haven't seen it, the original movie(with Ann Parillaud) is very good.

The new "Pay-It-Forward" Music Giveaway Thread!!!
PHILLYQ replied to Parkertown's topic in Offering and Looking For...
Got a taker for Song X and Tal Farlow- anybody for Righteous Buddha? They're a funky organ trio(organ, bass, drums). Soory, US only(postage) Righteous Buddha still available, Bitches Brew, Matthew Shipp- get 'em for free, all or one or any combination thereof... -

I agree from the stand point of a game of baseball it looks stupid. However, I think there may be some franchises that are so desperate for money where they need it NOW, or closer to now than a few months from now. I don't know any dirty details about the Ray's ownership, but you think of some of the arrogant jerks (such as the Cubs' last owner) along with other rich folk who made seriously awful investments...(Imagine if any in Tampa ownership invested in FL real estate during the bubble?) Like I said, I don't have a clue about TB financial details, just saying such tough times could lead to needing money over trying win to wild card, sad to say. Exhibit one for the financial problems is supposedly the Mets, who are in deep financial doo-doo. I keep hearing that the owner lost 700 million in the Madoff swindle. Panda hit just one out for the Giants, 1-0. There are rumors that the Wilpons will sell the Mets, that they didn't fire Minaya because they didn't want to eat his contract, that the budget for next year will be much lower- that's all possible. The Wilpons did lose a bundle to Made-off.

MLB.com is reporting it as a done deal: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/press_releases/pre...jsp&c_id=tb

Outside of salary it makes no sense for Tampa Bay to do the deal- they're 4 out of the WC.

I might even go whole hog and have two slices!! It's raining like hell so it might be a good day to go there.

Well, I'm back in action! I got a consultant job with a company in the building next door to where I was working and I'll start on Monday or Tuesday. From what I gathered in the interview I stand a good chance of becoming permanent after awhile. So I've had almost two months off at full pay with $$ left from my severance and I'm back to work(for a higher rate of pay, too). I felt so lucky I bought a ticket for Megamillions(325 mil for tonight).

I really thought the Yanks might pull that one out. To me it was a curious decision to have Swisher bunt- I don't know the stats but I don't think he's bunted much in his career and he looked quite awkward trying to bunt.

Gig a month in 2009 - a challenge
PHILLYQ replied to A Lark Ascending's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
Thanks to the Stone and its no drink policey I was a able to catch a cheap gig ($10)for August. This past Friday I saw a trio of Mary Halvorson, Tom Rainey & Ingrid Laubrock. Good music that at times started reaching to great but never quite got there. Halvorson seemed unsure about where to go in this music or maybe she was having an off night, but her presence was barely felt. Tom Rainey played great, doing free stuff while keeong a pulse. Impressive. -
Beckett having a bad outing tonight- 7 runs allowed and it's the 5th inning. As a Yank fan I like it.

You're tied with about 42 games left, so now every game matters. I looked at the Rangers schedule the other day and they have a pretty favorable one. The last three games against the Angels may be gimmes if the Angels have clinched and they want to rest players. Much better than last year for you, right? No doubt about it: no one expected the Rangers to be this good this deep into the season (much less at all!). Still, aside from the inconsistent bats, the Rangers' biggest problem has been their inability to beat the so-called "easy" teams: they can take care of the Angels and the Red Sox with the greatest of ease, but the Twins? How in the name of the baseball gods can a team be this good, yet blow five-run leads for two consecutive games and lose to a team that is where the Rangers usually are this time of year? That's baseball, I guess... here's another, Big Al- you'll be a Yankee fan this weekend!!!

Kate and Mike Westbrook CDs for sale at Westbrook Records - Part One
PHILLYQ replied to Chris_T's topic in Musician's Forum
Chris, you may want to move the thread to the 'Offering and Looking...'. Right now it's in the Musician section and it might not be seen by those who might like it. -
The guy goes to the hospital with a broken jaw and 'nothing happened'?! WTF!!!

I've found for myself that the law of diminshing returns definitely applies. If I start with one of an artist's best works and I keep going in acquiring their recordings it gets to a point where the satisfaction level starts to diminish, each recording is less exciting/revelatory/essential than the ones before. As a result I try to avoid being a completist because I know it will end up in a disappointing end.

She simmers but never boils. I enjoy her music, but after about 20-30 minutes the tunes tend to blend together for me. If you think she's not beautiful I suggest a trip to your eye doctor!
