  1. August 1970, Santana at the Fillmore East. Opening act- Rahsaan Roland Kirk!!!(I thought he was just weird with the multiple horns, etc. Two years later I thought he was brilliant!)
  2. According to Jazzloft they are remastered. I sprung for the Threadgill as I have only one title of the 7.
  3. Micha, maybe the email address below will help, but he's mailing them from Brooklyn, so you should have gotten them by now. Mine arrived within days of order. I believe it's one guy, but you don't want it to fall through the cracks.
  4. Jim Sangrey mentioned Ibrahim Electric somewhere and I checked it out and loved it- thanks, Jim! Clem raved about Debashish Bhattacharya(sp?) on a thread and he happened to be playing in NYC about a week later, so I went to see him and loved that also. There's probably many more if I start looking through my music collection.
  5. MG, I'd like to meet up. I'll send you a PM and we'll see what we can do. Any otherNY/NJ folks, can we get a group together?
  6. Not quite as horrible as pizzabeer, but a travesty IMHO is the pizzacone: http://gothamist.com/2010/02/22/pizza_in_a_cone_rolls_out_in_manhat.php
  7. Congrats and I wish you both much happiness in the future. You're very lucky to find a woman who can tolerate your music jones- rare indeed.
  8. I ordered from ESP directly and got my order in less than a week, but the return address for ESP is in Brooklyn about a 20 minute car ride from my house. I get the impression that ESP may be a verrrry small operation, so filling the Jazzloft orders may take some time(ship from Brooklyn to Jazzloft, then onward).
  9. On Max Roach's 'To the Max' it's spelled with one 'r',but I don't know how good a speller he was.
  10. How would Dan Quayle spell it???
  11. Since N'awlins is in the SB, how about Rebirth Brass Band, Dr. John, Nevilles, etc? Nah, makes too much sense and they might expose the nation to real good music
  12. Of course, the SB is on CBS so what's left of the Who will play all three 'CSI' theme songs!
  13. I ordered one today- how could I resist at that price? Thanks much Matteson, for the tip.
  14. What will happen to the rest of the economy when the Getz box-set bubble collapses?
  15. Scott Boras really screwed Damon on this one- what I recall is Boras saying that Damon shouldn't have to take a pay cut from the $13mil/yr he had with the Yanks and he wanted 3/4 years. Supposedly he told the Yanks not to even bother making an offer if it wasn't in line with that. It looks like Damon will now wind up playing for a non-contender for less money than what the Yanks eventually offered to him(2 yrs/14mil), all because Boras horribly misread the market and the Yanks. I'm sorry to see him go, but he wanted more than what the Yanks wanted to pay, so as Vajerzy said, supply and demand.
  16. It's also worth noting that maybe Favre felt he couldn't run on the fateful across-the-body interception play- maybe his ankle was killin' him, so he went for a pass when he could have run and...
  17. I read an article in the Village Voice that called 'The Inner Mounting Flame' by Mahavishnu the album of the year(it was 1972 when the article appeared). Curious, I got hold of it, played it every day for a month straight and I couldn't quite get it. Luckily, Mahavishnu was playing in NYC about a month later, so I went and I'got it'!!! That led to Miles(Live/Evil, Big Fun,etc)and that led to everybody by branching out.
  18. I was in J&R last night and I'm pretty sure I saw it there-check their website.
  19. If you put money on the Jets last week you have more money now... I think the Jets can at least cover the spread, and they are playing greaaaaat defense.
  20. Don't get anything remastered by Hershey- low quality, instruments tend to melt together.
  21. happy Birthday, David- swing it in 7/4!!!
  22. This is what drives my absolutely batstuff crazy: I knew we ran a legit program is pure bs coming out of the mouth of LaRussa. Peter Gammons ran an article accusing Jose Canseco of juicing way back in the 1980s, papers constantly ran articles on the A's and steroids, of course, St. Anthony denied everything (in fact, he went off on a major Gammons rant, calling him everything in the book). Tony, I don't know about anyone else, but I never did, do not now, nor will I ever buy your blind eye excuses. Why people think this guy has any integrity is beyond me. He's on ARod's level in my book. maybe LaRussa was drunk and behind the wheel?
  23. Mine shipped also- many thanks for the tip, matthew
  24. I've never heard anything by Evan Parker- any recs as a starting point, favorites, etc? Thank you very much.
  25. They have a wonderful pretzel factory in Lititz(lit its), and it's not that far from Intercourse, PA.
