While jazz will be my primary interest to the day I die, I have found myself revisiting music in the rock world that I missed out growing up. Gotten into Deep Purple and Rainbow, Thin Lizzy and other bands of that ilk in the past few years. With the passing of Ozzy I have so far picked up four of Sabbath's releases. The debut album Black Sabbath, Paranoid, Volume 4 and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. In the coming weeks I'll most likely get Masters of Reality and Sabotage. Even the reunion album 13 sounds pretty damn good to me even though Bill Ward isn't on the session. I guess at the time metal just didn't hold much interest or I just thought it wasn't for me. I have to say it's been great fun to go back in time to visit these classic recordings.

Well I was given a heads up by forum member Kevin this morning who told me it was available (Clayton) on Dusty Groove for $70. Yeah, you heard that right. I snapped it up.

I've been listening to Hang In There this morning. Sounds great! I realize those Steeplechase releases don't always come cheap, but it sounds like a must own.

Ok, let's hope one day all these releases make it to physical copies. In the meantime from this extensive list what should I be listening to? Alot of this is "new" to me. Listening to Harold Vick right now!

Man that's crazy! I was seriously thinking about picking this up but based on the issues I think I'll pass. -
I like what he did on this recording. I've seen this album posted numerous times on my Instagram feed, so figured there must be something going on here. Definitely not disappointed.

Mosaic Records Count Basie Live Recordings

A few years back I found someone here on the forum had posted about a Chicago store that was selling the Complete Roulette Recordings. It was somewhat over $200. You just don't ever see it that cheap. I snapped it up without hesitation. Got that too a few years ago. -
Just wanted to take a moment and crow about this box set arriving in the mail yesterday. Special thanks to member jazzkrow who gave me a heads up on this set seeing it was available on eBay for less than $60 minus shipping. Yep, you read that right. With the exception of the label peeling off the side of the box, the set is in pretty decent shape. How are you ever going to get a set this cheap? I'm really looking forward to hearing this collection after reading the commentary about how great this set is. Very excited!

Terry Gibbs Dream Band "Vol.7: The Lost Tapes 1959
Tom 1960 replied to jazzcorner's topic in New Releases
Just wanted to share that I am now listening to the recording and as previously stated, excellent sound quality. If you are a fan of the previous volumes, you should purchase these unreleased live dates. You can order it directly from the Whailing City Sound website. It shipped and delivered very quickly. -
Terry Gibbs Dream Band "Vol.7: The Lost Tapes 1959

Just bought it yesterday and shipped this morning. Looking forward to hearing this. -
I ordered the Clarke/Boland Big Band 2CD set, Blowing the Cobwebs Out and paid only $25, not including shipping. It arrived very quickly and was here on Thursday. Very happy with the service. Thanks for your helpful input.

I had 2 small parcels/cds expected to be delivered on Thursday. Only 1 was in the mailbox Thursday night. That parcel was scanned about 610 pm. The other parcel was scanned delivered but nearly an hour earlier. That makes no sense. Went to post office Friday and carrier admitted package was misdelivered. I'm hoping the CD will arrive still but not holding my breathe. Nothing in mailbox Friday night.

Thank you very much guys. That was very helpful. I happened to see a recording that I was very interested in purchasing at a very affordable price but was hesitant. I thought, maybe too good to be true. I'll let you know how things go.

https://cadnor.com/ Has anybody here in the past done business with this outfit? I happen to see a recording on the website that I'm very interested in, but no very little of the company and their reputation. Any information you could provide would be quite helpful. Thank you!

Better late than never, the first 4 releases by Dwight Yoakam. Anyone who enjoys Merle Haggard or Buck Owens will find much to enjoy here. My favorite rock release hands down was the Deep Purple release = 1. I found myself playing this to death since it's early summer release. New guitarist Simon McBride has lit a fire under the band and the album is inspired and rocks with that classic Deep Purple sound. It made me feel like a kid again. Even saw them perform in New Hampshire in late August. Great show.

Any thoughts on this release? Is it a legit release? Sounds good from what I've heard on Spotify.

With Dave Schildkraut.

If you're already a fan of Bob, he's in very strong form here. I'm very curious about this massive box set and while the price per disc is very cheap, I don't know how often I would listen to something like this even being a big fan. Somewhere I thought there was going to be a 3 disc set highlighting some of these performances. That might be more realistic to many including myself.
