  3. I promised a fellow member on Blindman's Blues Forum I would post this here to help spread the word. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Last night I had Tom Keener and Michael Maher from the Allen Public Library on my KNON Texas Blues Radio program. They are currently working on the first ever documentary on Texas blues legend FREDDIE KING and they need your input. They're looking for original photos, posters, and stories from folks who knew, played with, or attended live concerts by Freddie King. They're especially looking for folks who were at the 1969 Texas International Pop Festival in Lewisville, any other major festivals, or even small club dates. Any and all original remembrances of Freddie King are welcome. The family of Freddie King and the Freddie King estate are participating in the project. If you can't help, maybe you know someone who can? For info contact: Tom Keener at: 214-509-4911214-509-4911 or tkeener@cityofallen.org They have already interviewed Freddie's daughter (and executor of the estate) Wanda King, his brother Benny Turner, and many of Freddie's old band members. They are looking for release sometime in February of 2015. Please help spread this far and wide as they are looking for as much input as they can get. I've seen some of the interviews they have already done and it is a first rate project.

  8. Happy Birthday, Dan!
  9. Not having too large a collection devoted to either, I too prefer the symphonic works, I would side with piano concertos. One example is a recent purchase of the Murray Perahia/Mozart Piano Concertos. Great stuff.
  10. That said, I must have at least a dozen new recommendations to contend with at some point. Damn this forum!
  11. Sad news. Thanks for all the great music, Gerald.
  12. Can't say I feel too bad for him. But that's just me. YMMV.
  13. What do you guys think? Recommendation wise. I'm presently listening to Charlie Haden's Quartet West with Broadbent and I like what I hear.
  14. Is it me or has Netflix selection of quality movies shrunk? I was a member a few years back and cancelled my membership when it became apparent that I didn't have the time to watch the movies to meet the monthly membership. I seem to remember though that Netfix had a pretty impressive selection. Well fast forward to yesterday when I opted to rejoin after recently purchasing a smart tv. After looking through the catalogue I found a great number of tiles not available especially when it comes to classic movies. There were a large number of movies available from the past few years but mainly of little or no interest. Is it me or has the quality of movies seriously eroded? Citing a specific example I believe I saw only 1 or 2 Alfred Hitchcock titles. None of the usual suspects one would expect.
  15. Very sad to hear of his passing. Known as a comedic actor he could take on the serious roles as well. A movie I've enjoyed was with Robert De Niro called "Awakenings".
  16. Is all AAJ gone for good? Still down.
  17. Presently listening to the above album for the first time and enjoying it alot! Any other fans of this band out there?
  18. http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/wkcr/ Now till 7PM eastern U.S.
  19. Although I met only briefly with him, Kenny Barron seemed to be a very nice guy. Mark Feldman who runs Reservoir Records and recorded a couple of Kenny's albums assured me Kenny is a very nice guy.
  20. Looking forward to a relaxing day here in Northern New England. Temps to be in the low 70's. Great day for open windows and some beach walking.
  21. The Mobley Mosaic is one of my favs. I've always been kind of amazed that this set didn't sell out years ago.
