  1. Happy Birthday, Bebop!
  2. Happy Birthday, Joel!
  3. 98 degrees. With humidity factored in, 104.
  4. Thanks guys! Staying home tonight. Will go out to dinner hopefully Friday evening. It's 91 degrees here and the air conditioning in the house feels especially nice after a tough day working outside in this heat.
  5. 90 - 95 till Saturday. With humidity factored in more like 100. Tough week to be a mailman.
  6. What do you guys think of this pianist? I enjoy his Maybeck disc along with the Bud Powell tribute album "Beautiful Bud" recorded on the Steeplechase label. I see he's recorded quite a number of releases for this label and your input on these releases would also be appreciated. Thanks.
  7. Happy Birthday, Jostber!
  8. 5 Guys. I was there only once, but it was pretty darn good.
  9. Just got back from Maine where it was 93 on Friday, Thursday a high of 91. I thought it didn't get hot in Maine? Oh yeah, when I left this morning at 10:30 it was already 87. Right now back home it's 83 and very muggy.
  10. Happy Birthday, GP. Hope it's a good one.
  11. I'll second both recommendations. Let's not forget his fine contributions to Gigi Gryce's early 60's releases. All worth owning, IMO.
  12. It's always been amazing to me this set didn't sell out long ago. For any of you fence sitters, take the plunge. You wont regret it. A solid set from beginning to end.
  13. Happy Birthday, Stefan!

  15. Happy Birthday, Paps!
  16. Happy Birthday, Bruce.
  17. It sounds treatable. Thinking positive thoughts. http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2013/jun/04/singer-sharon-jones-diagnosed-cancer
  18. I realize I'm not privy to what happened in the past and under most circumstances would keep my mouth shut. But can't folks just leave things in the past and move on or is that just asking too much? Gosh, it just seems there is a lot of wasted energy being spent here rehashing past grievances. If you want to be part of the forum, glad to have you on board. I look forward to reading your thoughts. If you can't find anything positive to say, why waste another moment and move on? I realize I may get slammed for this, but some of this shit seems to be childish and frankly it's getting BORING!
  19. My wife recently purchased me a new laptop which contains Windows 8. In the beginning it made me feel like I was an idiot. That I was starting over again. After initial cursing and swearing I've gotten used to it. Not a ringing endorsement by any means. I'm glad I still have the desktop with the older operating system.
  20. Damn! Sorry I missed that. With thunderstorms moving in and out of the area all afternoon, it wasn't till now I was able to log back on. I'm sure it was a great show.
  21. I'm really glad to have seen Mulgrew perform a few months ago. He performed in a trio with students from William Patterson University. It was a fun night. I had the opportunity to briefly chat with Mulgrew after the show at a meet and greet across the street from the venue. I got him to sign my cd as well. It makes me sad that he was taken far too early. Well at least we have his music and there's a lot of it out there. Thanks Mulgrew!
  22. Any willing to up a few thoughts on this live session? Oliver Nelson is also present on the date.
  23. I saw Mulgrew perform a few months ago and he sounded great. I didn't know he had a prior stroke. Dick Conte on KCSM just mentioned Mulgrew's stroke, which brought me here. This makes me very sad. Here's hoping he bounces back. We're all rooting for you, Mulgrew!
  24. Great to come across this recommendation. I'll check out some of the online samples on iTunes. Always been a fan of Roy's. Sad to hear of his recent troubles.
