  1. Somebody should grab this. While I haven't played this in some time, I recall there being some nice playing by Harold Land on this set. I will dig this out later today.
  2. I was fortunate enough to score this set off eBay a couple weeks ago for just under $80. A great investment.
  3. I have to get my butt down to Boston and see the store now that I'm living in Maine and with the local Amtrak station right in town providing service to Boston.
  4. Belated Birthday wishes, Allen from your new neighbor down the road.
  5. I've been listening to this on WKCR's Jazz Profiles program and it sounds like a fine release. Very good sound quality with equally fine performances. What do you guys think?
  6. Thanks guys for the thumbs up. I'll be making a return trip soon.
  7. Somehow I think this Brown led date with Zoot Sims and a bunch of West Coasters has escaped me till now. I'll have to double check the collection, but I think not. I happened to come across this at a local Bull Moose music store for a relatively cheap price, used. What can you guys tell me about the date? Should I pick it up?
  8. I've always been grateful having the opportunity to post here and read the informative thoughts of the many people much more knowledgeable than myself. As for the many recommendations, count me in as another who has seen his bank accounts depleted. At least I'm enjoying the ride to bankruptcy.
  9. I was listening to Volume 4 on the way to meeting the wife In Massachusetts for lunch today and made me wish I had brought the entire set for the ride. What a joy listening to this music.
  10. Let me add, I own all of the Zoot Sims albums Kevin has listed. All worth owning, IMO.
  11. I just heard about his passing on Sirius XM the satellite channel. Supposedly one of the comedy channels is paying tribute to David tonight. Sad to hear of his passing.
  12. Jerry is ok by me. He once burned me the Jazz Profiles program on WKCR which featured 5 hours of the music of Frank Strozier.
  13. An earlier session I enjoy.
  14. Happy Birthday, Joe!
  15. I just came across on the Jazz Wax website that today's featured performer on Jazz Profiles on WKCR New York is Paul Quiinichette. Tune in at 2 PM to 7 PM eastern US Time Zone. http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/wkcr/
  16. Very nice collection. Grab it while you can.
  17. I know I must have over 100 titles on that wish list based on recommendations I've come across on this forum. Some I end up purchasing right away. Others that have been around for the past couple years. What I like most about the wish list function on Amazon, is that it allows me to check up on a regular basis for titles that might be out of my price range and suddenly become available at a lower threshold. I've purchased a number of releases by actively checking the website.
  18. I've held out on purchasing the Herbie disc for sometime mainly because I got the impression his piano was out of tune for this session. True or untrue?
  19. I have that on my wish list over at Amazon. Right now the price is a bit out of my range. I will keep an eye on it though.
  20. Terrific release from start to finish. If you can find an affordable copy, pick it up.
  21. I've been on a Bill Holman thing of late and the Lost Holman Charts sounded tempting.
  22. Any thoughts on this trumpeter both pro or con? Your recommendations would be appreciated.
  23. I guess it must be the end of the world or pretty darn close to it.
