  1. 24 hours of nothing but Clifford Brown. Listen in beginning at midnight October 30. WKCR New York
  2. Two, in fact: "Claude Williamson" (BLP-59) and "Round Midnight" (BLP-69). I just had the opportunity to sample the tracks from "Round Midnight". Seeing it's available for a very affordable price, should I get the Bethlehem issue or the remastered version which was released on Rhino?
  3. For some unknown reason I've shied from Kenton's music till now with the recent purchase of Kenton In Hi-Fi. Love it! I'm looking forward into making further purchases of Kenton's catalogue such as Contemporary Concepts, Live At The Las Vegas Tropicana and Kenton Showcase to name just a few. I somehow got the impression that Kenton's music was pretty dull stuff. Boy, was I wrong! At least not his 50's recordings.
  4. grooveshark: I'm seriously thinking about buying this one. Great stuff!
  5. I'll use them only if the product is not available most notably from Newbury or Import Cds. I find the items tend to take longer to ship versus other vendors. Not a huge deal if I really want the item.
  6. Any thoughts on this date? Sonny Buxton on KCSM played a track from the album(Kev)and highly recommended it for purchase.
  7. What's your favorite Spyro Gyra song?
  8. Midday Jazz with Sonny Buxton on KCSM. Sonny is the man!
  9. I suppose I could have placed this on the Youtube thread, but I came across this program dating back in the early 60's based out of Los Angeles hosted by Frank Evans. This clip features the Gerald Wilson Orchestra performing Milestones. Milestones If you do a search on youtube of Frankly Jazz, you can come across a number of other performances featuring Howard Rumsey's Lighthouse All-Stars, Irene Kral, Jazz Crusaders, Joe Pass, Shorty Rogers to name a few. I just thought it would be cool to post this stuff since I was unaware of this program prior. Any additional info on this program would be greatly appreciated. Enjoy.
  10. Happy Birthday, Bill. Have a great one.
  11. Another happy customer. Go for it!
  12. PM on Charlie Rouse Social Call.
  13. Happy Birthday, John. Hope you had a good one.
  14. I don't think his name has been mentioned yet, but how about Lem Winchester?
  15. Having never been a big fan of John Coltrane's post Love Supreme sessions(please don't slam me) and after listening to the very enjoyable Crescent album, I would have loved to hear his return to something abit more accessable. Hey, that's just me. Your mileage may vary.
  16. Hell yeah. How could I forget him, Bill!
  17. Clifford and Tina Brooks were the first musicians that came to mind. In addition let me add Sonny Clark and trumpeter Joe Gordon.
  18. I've had the music playing downstairs most of the day. A great day for jazz lovers.
  19. Just happened to hear, WKCR will be broadcasting this Sunday 24 hours of the music of Thelonious Monk beginning at midnight. WKCR, New York Thought you guys might be interested.
  20. Thanks for plugging that release. I just had the opportunity to hear the samples and made the purchase. Very nice lineup on that date!
  21. I just purchased this recording after receiving a recent email from True Blue Music that it has moved to "Last Chance". I don't know how many copies they have available? But if you've been sitting on the fence, now is the time to move and purchase this terrific date at an affordable price.(14.98) Amazon has new copies available for $45!
  22. Tornado watch out till 6 PM eastern time. Yikes!
  23. Just got off the phone with Paypal. For some reason my credit card was being proccessed as a debit card and not allowing the transaction. I'm not sure how that happened? We made the necessary changes as to how the card is processed and my account is now back up and running. Thanks guys for your help.
