  1. but for me Strozier supplies the heat that is much more compatible with Candoli's playing. "The Breeze And I" is an excellent example. I'm also a big fan of Russ Freeman which is always a big plus with me if he's included on the date.
  2. Pete, I figured with things winding down, I'd take full advantage and listen to a number of recordings that are on my extensive wish list. My only regret is that I didn't take advantage of this service more often in the past. As they say, all good things must come to an end.
  3. Any thoughts on his latest release?
  4. lala: Lester Young/Teddy Wilson - Pres and Teddy
  5. Congratulations on the fantastic news.
  6. Happy Birthday, Sundog!
  7. 101 friggin degrees.
  8. Lala: Dave Pell Octet - Jazz & Romantic Places
  9. When I saw that I thought I had clicked on the "bad cover" thread. Don't let the cover fool ya! Great live date. Right now on lala:
  10. That sucks!!! Glad to hear you're getting a refund, at least.
  11. Happy Birthday, Chuck!
  12. Grant Green - Live At The Lighthouse Gotta love Hank Stewart's groovy introduction!
  13. Thanks for the input fellas. I had the opportunity to listen to The Latin Bit in it's entirety last night and it works for me. I honestly wasn't expecting the Latin Bit to be groundbreaking or rival any of his other outstanding dates. It's just a fun session. That's good enough for me. It happens to be available from yourmusic for 6.99 and it has now moved to the top of the list in my queue. I'm also interested in looking up Felser's recommendations for Grant's live dates. I'm going to check them out in the coming days seeing that there available for one free listen at lala.com.
  14. I'm presently listening to this album on lala.com and was wondering what others thought of this date? Right now I own close to a dozen releases by Green and thought this might be my next purchase. I was sort of surprised by reading online some of the lackluster reviews for this session. It really doesn't sound like a bad date. What do you think?
  15. While I was never a huge fan, the guy could sing. I saw a show a few years back on VH1 Classic of a performance at Radio City Music Hall with Heaven and Hell and he still could pull it off. No easy feat especially for a guy singing metal in his 60's.
  16. Happy birthday, Larry.
  17. Ronnie James Dio Dead At 67
  18. Jazz Profiles on WKCR, New York featuring the music of Curtis Fuller.
