  1. When I saw that I thought I had clicked on the "bad cover" thread. Don't let the cover fool ya! Great live date. Right now on lala:
  2. That sucks!!! Glad to hear you're getting a refund, at least.
  3. Happy Birthday, Chuck!
  4. Grant Green - Live At The Lighthouse Gotta love Hank Stewart's groovy introduction!
  5. Thanks for the input fellas. I had the opportunity to listen to The Latin Bit in it's entirety last night and it works for me. I honestly wasn't expecting the Latin Bit to be groundbreaking or rival any of his other outstanding dates. It's just a fun session. That's good enough for me. It happens to be available from yourmusic for 6.99 and it has now moved to the top of the list in my queue. I'm also interested in looking up Felser's recommendations for Grant's live dates. I'm going to check them out in the coming days seeing that there available for one free listen at lala.com.
  6. I'm presently listening to this album on lala.com and was wondering what others thought of this date? Right now I own close to a dozen releases by Green and thought this might be my next purchase. I was sort of surprised by reading online some of the lackluster reviews for this session. It really doesn't sound like a bad date. What do you think?
  7. While I was never a huge fan, the guy could sing. I saw a show a few years back on VH1 Classic of a performance at Radio City Music Hall with Heaven and Hell and he still could pull it off. No easy feat especially for a guy singing metal in his 60's.
  8. Happy birthday, Larry.
  9. Ronnie James Dio Dead At 67
  10. Jazz Profiles on WKCR, New York featuring the music of Curtis Fuller.
  11. Ok, it's my guilty pleasure. Anyone here as obsessed with this program as I am? Man V Food
  12. Discs 2 and 3 The Jimmy Rowles Trio dates are probably my least favorite sessions of this collection mainly because of the less than ideal sound quality which I was aware of beforehand. The material is ok, but who is to say that I wont come around to it at some future date? The Claire Fischer dates on the otherhand are outstanding. Fischer closes out disc 2 with 4 tracks and the entire 3'rd disc. All in all, a very fine collection. Glad to have been fortunate to get this collection at a reasonable price. Thanks to all for plugging this one.
  13. Starbucks is where I picked up the excellent new release by Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings for 13 bucks. Who would have figured?
  14. Disc 1 Featuring Russ Freeman who I never tire of and Richard Twardzik who is new at least to my ears.
  15. The set arrived in the mail today. I hope to get the opportunity to hear some of this before the day is out.
  16. Wolfgang's Vault
  17. It's a real shame since I've used lala as a resource for potential future purchases. All good things do come to an end.
  18. Anyone got the new one? I usually could care less about todays music for the most part, but this has floored me. I think it's great!
  19. Never understood the lack of enthusiasm for this set. Without a doubt one of my favorite Mosaic sets.
  20. Thanks guys. Looks like a case of being in the right place at the right time. I look forward to finally receiving this set. Hope to post some impressions.
  21. Looks like I got the Pacific Jazz Piano Trio's !!!!!!
  22. David is the man! Enjoying the heck out of the Eric Alexander/Grant Stewart date. Thanks David.
