  1. A new discovery at least for me for me. I came across this station listed as one of the affiliates carrying Ghost Of Miles Night Lights program. Check it out. Sounds like a good station. Erie Radio
  2. This is my first Jeremy Pelt purchase and his latest release. Quite good. The musicians assembled remind me alot of Miles' 2'nd quintet. That type of vibe. Anyone else own this one?
  3. Thanks guys for the solid endorsements. Now added to my queue. Don't have any Lovano at present so I'll be curious how he fares on this release. I do own a single Steve Kuhn release, the Live At Birdland date from 2007.
  4. With the selections of decent jazz issues becoming slimmer and slimmer over at yourmusic.com, I was curious what you guys thought of this release? I'm thinking about adding it to my queue for possible future purchase.
  5. Sounds like if you've been sitting on the fence over some releases, perhaps making a decision in the near future would be wise. I'm still kicking myself about missing out on the Lou Donaldson and Pacific Jazz Piano sets.
  6. I hope you're wrong but it's definitely not a good sign.
  7. Just purchased this monster via Amazon marketplace for just under $100 for 33 cds! I've always enjoyed Haydn's Paris and London Symphonies along with a few of his lesser known works. I read some positive reviews on this collection and couldn't pass up a great deal.
  8. Happy Birthday, Hans. Hope you have a great day.
  9. You sometimes forget just how good this guy was. I'm presently playing The Great Jazz Piano of Phineas Newborn and enjoying the heck out of it. When it comes to mentioning the greats of jazz piano, I'm sure many overlook Phineas Newborn. I know I'm guilty of that.

  11. I happened to come across the album "Night And Day" which was mentioned by a number of posters and is available NEW for as little as $.91!!!! Hard to turn down a deal as good as this. BTW, add me to the list who absolutely loves "New York Sessions". Fantastic stuff.
  12. Wow!!! I'm jealous.
  13. Kicking myself for not jumping on the Julius Watkins when I saw it first posted.
  14. Lala: Jim Rotondi - Blues For Brother Ray
  15. Looks like I should get my butt up to Albany soon.
  16. We have about 2 to 3 inches on the ground right now. There's been a bit of a lull the past few hours although that could change rather quickly as weather reports indicate. The winds have picked up with occasional gusts. Home for lunch right now. Gotten a large chunck of my mail route done already. If I can just get through the next 2 hours.
  17. I just wanted to plug this site once more since I was fortunate to attend the Fred Hersch show there last night. Very good show I will add. What a great venue for jazz music among other music. It was a packed house for Fred. I have to figure there must have been between 100 - 120 people in attendance. I don't think I saw an empty seat, at least during the first set. The owner who seems to be a very decent guy seemed to be overwhelmed and humbled by the large turnout. Not the norm for most shows there. I remember him saying they ran out of food. Realising this is a global forum, if any folks in the neighboring vicinity are withing reasonable driving distance, I would wholehearedly recommend they check out some of the upcoming shows. I had a 45 minute drive and it was well worth the trip.
  18. While attending the Fred Hersch show last night, I ran into my neighbors from down the street who I never had any idea were jazz fans. In our conversations they recommended I attend the Marcus Strickland show in April. They seemed to be pretty positive on him. I have to admit I really know nothing of the guy, although I'm definitely curious. What do you guys think? He's performing in a trio which should be interesting.
  19. Fred Hersch Trio with Larry Grenadier/bass, Richie Barshay/drums.
  20. Happy birthday, Big Wheel.
  21. Agreed! Now on lala: Fred Hersch - Live At The Village Vanguard If the weather doesn't effect things here, I will see him perform tonight.
  22. Glad to see your endorsement on this one, MG. I might be able to get ahold of this one in the coming days. Add my endorsement as well. As transcendent as the trio albums are, I've always preferred Red with a horn (or horns). Finally gotten around to listening to Red's Good Groove. I just want to thank you guys for plugging this release. It definitely lives up to the billing.
  23. Lala: Mulgrew Miller - Live At The Kennedy Center, Volume 1
