  1. While driving down a dark country road at well over the speed limit, you hit a deer. Severely wounded and unable to move, you bleed to death in your car. Your dead body isn't discovered until the following morning.
  2. Look forward to receiving these with great anticipation in the coming days: Thanks to Bill F for recommending these recordings.
  3. I've been listening to WHPK in Chicago. They seem to play some pretty good jazz on Sunday mornings.
  4. Anyone else enjoy this session as much as I do? I purchased this recording very recently and it's been getting ALOT of play the past several days. It's a 1964 session which also includes Monk Montgomery on bass and Steve Ellington on drums. Terrific stuff and highly recommended.
  5. The track "The Green Leaves Of Summer" from the Hampton Hawes release of the same name. A good part of this track features Hampton solo before the rest of the trio kicks in. I've been playing this ALOT the past few days.
  6. I placed an order a week ago and I was able to take advantage of the 20% off. 13 discs for just under 100 bucks. Thanks Ron.
  7. A co-worker of mine recently viewed this on the local PBS station and claims the show was quite good. Has anyone else been fortunate enough to view this show and wish to offer some commentary? I see it's now available from Amazon for Pre-order. Click Here
  8. To get the opportunity to hear a healthy dose of Stanley and brother Tommy Turrentine, is worth the purchase. Great set!
  9. Damn, sad news. RIP Richard.

  11. Happy birthday, Dan. Hope you have a great day.
  12. An early favorite of mine when I first started listening to jazz over 20 years ago. Looks like I'll be playing quite abit of his music this weekend. RIP Johnny.
  13. Disc 5 of the above set features The Art Farmer Quartets.
  14. Trane, best wishes to you and your mom. Fortunately I haven't been in many wrecks during my lifetime. You never forget them though.
  15. Farmer/Golson/Jazztet Mosaic - Discs 2, 3 and 4. I have to say I'm quite impressed with this set so far. I've never been a big fan of Art Farmer in the past owning a few sessions where he's featured as a leader and sideman. Never real did it for me. Well, having gone through the first 4 discs my opinion has dramatically changed. His playing on this set has been a real relevation for me. Top notch stuff. I expected great stuff from Benny Golson and he certainly doesn't disappoint here, but Art has been a real pleasant surprise for me. Loving the heck out of this set so far. Oh yeah, really digging Grachan Moncur's playing on disc 4.
  16. Thanks again guys and YES, I'm enjoying the heck out of that Jazztet set!
  17. Farmer/Golson/Jazztet Mosaic- Disc 1
  18. Thanks guys for the birthday greetings. I'm really glad to be part of this group. My wife just ordered me the Farmer/Golson/Jazztet Mosaic. Gotta love those birthdays.
  19. Cool. All the more reason for my wife to get me the Farmer/Golson/Jazztet sessions.
  20. Birthday greetings, Jostber. Hope you had a great one.
  21. I'm Sorry by Brenda Lee. Me too!
  22. Was in Barnes & Noble in Albany yesterday and walked away with this one:
  23. Great to you across threads like these. While the consensus is to proceed with caution, there appears to be a good number of recommendations here worth seeking out. The above Dizzy Big 7 sounds very interesting along with the Gillespie/Peterson collaborations. Thanks for reviving this thread!
  24. I ran across this release on AMG and FWIW came highly rated. Sounded interesting especially since Wayne Shorter is included on the session. Your thoughts as always are appreciated.
  25. Compared to Blues And The Abstract Truth, More Blues while a fine album, no way compares to that classic session. Good album no doubt. Just don't have the same expectations, IMO.
