  1. Hank Mobley - Discs 4, 5 and 6 Taking forever to get through this set unfortunately. Great stuff, but little time available recently to do any serious listening. Let me also add I really enjoy the Pepper Adams session. Love his contributions!
  2. PBS website
  3. I wondered the same thing. I bet a ton of people had this set on their radar as a set they would definitely buy once it hit Running Low. Maybe the demand has been quite high since last week but it still doesn't explain why it wouldn't be in Last Chance. The only thing I can say at this point is the gentleman I spoke to at Mosaic stated twice to me that he felt the set would be gone by the weekend due to the heavy demand for the set. It may turn out that he's wrong and it could be available for a somewhat longer period. However, given this info. presented to me and the fact that I really wanted the set, I wasn't willing to take the gamble.
  4. I initially posted this on the Hodges Running Low Thread, but wasn't certain how many folks here would view this. I thought it might be best to post a new thread to garner more attention. To those who are interested: BUY THE HODGES NOW!!! I was just on the phone with Mosaic Records and inquired about it's availability. I was hoping I could put off my purchase till April since my wife just purchased the Nelson and Mobley sets a couple weeks ago. According to the gentleman I spoke to, it's availabilty is extremely limited. He stated it may not be around after this weekend. If you've been sitting on the fence on this one, now is the time to make your decision. I placed the order. I felt I couldn't pass on this opportunity. The wife is going to kill me.

  6. I bought my new Dell about 9 months ago and have been having ongoing issues with Vista. Specific example: For some unknown reason on occasion IE will unexpectedly shut down, then reboot. It used to happen more often, less as of late. Looking at the specs if I'm reading this correctly: Processor: AMD Athlon64 x 2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ 2.00 GHz Memory(RAM): 1022 MB 32 bit Operating System
  7. Dan, it sounds like you made the right decision. I hope to purchase the Silver release soon. Hearing alot of great things about this one. Also count me as another big admirer of Johnny Adams. The guy had one heck of a voice. Check this release out when you get the opportunity.
  8. Oliver Nelson - Discs 5 and 6
  9. Disc 4 Right now in the middle of "The Kennedy Dream" followed by the Pee Wee Russell session "The Spirit of '67".
  10. For sure. A major discovery for me, that suite. Check out also Brownie's photo of the live performance of this in NYC in the booklet ! Beautiful!!!
  11. Oliver Nelson - Discs 2 and 3 "Jazzhattan Suite" without a doubt the highlight of disc 2. Really enjoying the performances with Shirley Scott on disc 3. What a terrific set so far.
  12. I may be bouncing back and forth between these 2 excellent sets the next few days. Right now listening to: Hank Mobley - Disc 1 I've been meaning to purchase this set for at least 2 yrs. and man it's great to finally have this in my hands.
  13. The last time I visited the Times Square store a couple years back, they chased me and everyone else out of the downstairs section. Shakira was to appear later and they needed the space. Never got to buy anything that day.
  14. I was AFRAID of that!
  15. Good to see some love for this recording. I already own both "The Procrastinator" and "Sonic Boom" but nothing else from Lee late in his career. Making a note for future reference.
  16. Disc 1 of the Oliver Nelson Mosaic. While the tracks are abit short, the music is tremendous!
  17. Oliver Nelson played both tenor and alto saxes.
  18. Thanks for the help guys. I'll give Mosaic a call in the next few days.
  19. A question to you knowledgable folks who follow this sort of thing. If the past is any sort of indication, how long is the time lapse between "Running Low" and "Last Chance"? If I can manage to sit this out say perhaps two months it would make things a hell of alot easier.
  20. Shoot! I've also been interested in the Hodges set but opted for the Nelson set instead. I really enjoy his small group sessions with Ellington. (Side By Side and Back To Back.) What to do?
  21. Sounds like Chris is the go to person if I need any updates on the shows story line. Our cable system also carries the Soapnet channel which reruns the weeks worth of programs from 7 - midnight on Saturday nights. Not that you'll find me sitting in front of the tv screen on Saturday nights?
  22. Dan, I hesitated at first posting this. Wondering what "the guys" here might conclude. Well I guess my dark secret is out of the closet.
