  1. Thanks again guys and YES, I'm enjoying the heck out of that Jazztet set!
  2. Thanks guys for the birthday greetings. I'm really glad to be part of this group. My wife just ordered me the Farmer/Golson/Jazztet Mosaic. Gotta love those birthdays.
  3. Cool. All the more reason for my wife to get me the Farmer/Golson/Jazztet sessions.
  4. Birthday greetings, Jostber. Hope you had a great one.
  5. Was in Barnes & Noble in Albany yesterday and walked away with this one:
  6. Great to you across threads like these. While the consensus is to proceed with caution, there appears to be a good number of recommendations here worth seeking out. The above Dizzy Big 7 sounds very interesting along with the Gillespie/Peterson collaborations. Thanks for reviving this thread!
  7. I ran across this release on AMG and FWIW came highly rated. Sounded interesting especially since Wayne Shorter is included on the session. Your thoughts as always are appreciated.
  8. Compared to Blues And The Abstract Truth, More Blues while a fine album, no way compares to that classic session. Good album no doubt. Just don't have the same expectations, IMO.
  9. Cheeseburgers on the grill with corn and potato salad.
  10. Strangely, that was one of the first Blue Notes I ever bought. (Well, one of the first five or so.) Same here. I recall being in a local music store and heard someone commenting on the album. He placed it back in the bin and I ended up walking out the store with it.
  11. Horace Silver - Further Explorations Stanley Turrentine - Look Out! Lou Donaldson - Here 'Tis
  12. You lucky dog! I hope to get that set for my birthday next month. Enjoy.
  13. I was reading an older thread the other day about The Complete Mercury Art Farmer/Benny Golson/Jazztet set. ALOT of people at the time spoke very highly of the set. It's now moved to the top of my list.
  14. The Parlan box is the main reason why I later purchased the Turrentine Mosaic. Enjoy Al. It's a great set!
  15. 4.19 at a local Mobil station. Directly across the street at Citgo they charge 4.30/gal and people incredibly gassing up.
  16. Changing the subject somewhat, I don't how many of you guys purchase the MLB package from your local cable outlet? One of many things I enjoy about subscribing is the chance to hear Joe Garagiola's commentary for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Apparently he must work only on select home games, Saturday nights? It really brings back such fond memories for me growing up in the 70's and hear him working NBC's Game Of The Week. The guy hasn't lost it and always has a great sense of humor and plenty of great stories to share. Still likes to pick on the umpires. Even though I'm a Dodger fan, if he's working the booth on Saturday night, I'll make an effort to watch some of the game.
  17. I was curious seeing that this is an older thread if folks here are still very positive on Jeremy Pelt? His name was passed onto me from another forum earlier tonight recommending me to check his music out. Thanks.
  18. Coming soon: Clifford Jordan/John Gilmore - Blowing In From Chicago Kenny Garrett - Pursuance: The Music Of John Coltrane Gene Ammons - Jammin' In Hi Fi Wayne Shorter - Et Cetera Horace Silver - The Tokyo Blues Bobby Hutcherson - The Kicker Art Blakey - Buhaina's Delight Red Mitchell/Harold Land Quintet - Hear Ye!
