  1. It definitely sucks. Look at the Phils. They started out 4 and 14. They've had a TON of injuries this season(Garcia, Leiber are done. Utley has been on the DL for the past two weeks. Myers & Gordon both missed two months. Howard missed two weeks. Victorino and Bourne both on the DL) coupled w/ a pitching staff that has been downright horrible, save for Hamels, is one game out of the WC and 4 games out in the East. What is going to piss me off is that they will probably miss out on the WC and finish w/ a better record than the winner of the NL Central for the second year in a row.
  2. So anyone heard the Chris Macgregor solo albums from Church#9 yet??
  3. Yes! We need more philosophers! I Have a BA, MA and currently working on a PhD in philosophy. I've also been teaching philosophy for the last five years. I took a class on Thomas' 'Treastise on Man' in my first year of doctoral work. I walked away from that with an entirely new respect for his work. Add me to the club. I have a BA in philosophy too.
  4. How can it be "amazing" if it's tainted?? I'm fucking ecstatic. Now hopefully Selig and the rest of the MLB powers that be will be shamed into getting a real anti-doping policy with rigorous testing procedures.
  5. Ryan Howard smacked two more homers tonight. He's 2nd in the NL in HR and 1st in RBI. Not bad considering he spent two weeks on the DL.

  7. We bought the complete first season of "Meerkat Manor" for my son. He watched one or two episodes before he got bored but I got hooked and watched them all last weekend. Fascinating little critters. http://animal.discovery.com/fansites/meerkat/meerkat.html
  8. R.I.P. (thanks for the article Clifford)
  9. "The E! True Hollywood Story: Randy Marsh"
  10. I'm reminded of Woody Allen's quip about "a non-fiction version of the Warren report."
  11. That bridge looks(looked) a 100 times safer than the one that I bike over everyday when I go to and from work. http://www.philadelphiaweekly.com/view.php?id=7399 Here's another view...
  12. I think it was the best deal the Wolves were gonna get for KG. W/ Ratliff's contract coming off the books next season they will be primed for the 2008 FA market which is looking to be great. The C's.... I agree it all depends on who they can pick up for the minimum. They are going to be over the cap this season and they have no bench at all. KG is 31, Allen is 32 and Pierce will be 30 when the season starts. They are not going to be able to keep up w/ the younger, faster teams that like to run. Additionally, Allen and Pierce have spent some time on the IL the past couple of seasons - how will they hold up?
  13. Oh and I forgot to add... earplugs are great for sleeping
  14. I've been yelled at and I've yelled at others. I've found that talking to the neighbor in question yields better results than calling the cops. Most people would rather work out some kind of compromise instead of getting hassled by the cops/landlord. There is a house across the street from us(we live in a row house on a tiny street) that is a rental. When a bunch of loud kids move in I make it a point to introduce myself and explain that I follow the Sangrey 10/10 rule(not before and not after). When I've yelled at people its been for not honoring the 10/10 rule or for playing TOO LOUD. Example - the kids across the street will do stupid shit like practicing w/ the windows wide open and putting their amps right IN the window. I mean that's not acceptable behavior at ANY time of day. About a week after the latest group moved in they decided to have a full band practice w/ a drummer, windows wide open on a Sunday at 11:00pm. I'm mean c'mon! Close the fucking windows dumb asses. So the next morning I had a talk w/ two of the kids and it's been relatively quiet for the past two weeks. Crossing my fingers....
  15. Happy 65th Jerry!!
  16. I watched an excellent episode on David. Schama "painted" a pretty nasty portrait of him.
  17. Any thoughts on KG to Boston??? Still doesn't get them a championship. I'm not convinced that they go to the East Finals either no matter what Simmons says.
  18. I forgot that he did Zabriskie Point. I saw Red Desert which had to be one of the most boring films I've ever sat through. If it hadn't been for super babe Monica Vitti's presence in the film I probably would have walked out.
  19. That's gotta be a midget. 3 Year Old Solves Rubik's Cube in 114 seconds
  20. Al you should be psyched to be getting Salty. I seen him play a couple of times this season vs. the Phils. He's the real deal.
  21. So why is Greg Anderson still in jail???
