  1. http://www.wirz.de/music/herwifrm.htm Looks like the liner notes are from a booklet not the cover. I would suggest emailing Stefan and working something out w/him.
  2. Thank you Reds.
  3. R.I.P.
  4. And only 8 more losses until they join the Fightin's in the 10K loss club. (Hurry up it's lonely at the bottom.)
  5. Jerry Ragovoy, composer of "Time Is On My Side," "Piece Of My Heart," "Get It While You Can," "Cry Cry Baby," and producer of Dionne Warwick, Bonnie Raitt, Howard Tate, Paul Butterfield, Miriam Makeba, and countless others, passed away in New York City on July 13 of complications from a stroke. http://www.themortonreport.com/entertainment/music/jerry-ragovoy-reknowned-songwriterproducerarranger-dies-at-80/
  6. http://www.lonestarb...-happen/2039470 Now, can we leave the emo shit behind and get on with things? I stand corrected. I hadn't see anything about that in the coverage that I had read. Fair enough and all is well then. Just know that there's a lot of things that don't get covered by the national sports press. Not that they should, necessarily, not with the natural order of things and all, but I'm just saying.... EDIT to add that Mr. Deely's self-correction has been graciously offered, and in the spirit of general (rather than team-specific) agreement that there are real issues to be addressed here, let me add that this is a very real issue. Both rail heights and fan education need to seriously be addressed because both are serious issues. The Rangers, for instance, are in the process of developing as a part of their fan base people from rural areas whose main experience at sports venues is at Friday night small town high school football games. Rightly or wrongly, a lot of these people really don't have a real point of reference to deal with about large venues, to them, it's a "dream come true" just to be there, and to the credit of the Rangers' staff that's usually the case (I mean, the staff smiles genuine smiles and "thank you for coming" on your way out, win or lose), but....professional sports venues are not without dangers, and people need to be on their toes at all times, especially people who really don't have a lot of experience at baseball games, people who think that what they see on TV is what it's like sitting in the stands. Mr. Stone was not such a person, Mr. Stone and his son were no stranger to The Ballpark. Mr. Stone was simply the victim of some really cruel, random, horribly ugly act of "fate". But people who get hit by foul balls because they're sitting right in the line of fire and gabbing away to their neighbors or texting back home about how their seats are REALLY GOOD, OMG, I can see EVERYTHING!!!! or doing god knows what besides watching the game...that's something that needs to be addressed by MLB in general, that type of fan education. That, and banning the wave. Sorry if it seems that I had singled out the Rangers or their park for criticism. As I had posted in the other thread the Phillies definitely need to raise the railings through out the Bank. Check out this photo and this one (you might have to play w/ the scroll bars depending on the size of your monitor). That's some scary shit.

  8. Attendance for MLB was 40 million in 2010. Given that many people I think the safety record is remarkable. The greatest danger in attending sporting events is if you are driving to & fro, and most likely the trip leaving the ballpark because of the drunk & tired drivers. Damn it Quincy. Will you stop being the voice of reason when I'm driven by irrational fury? I had my pitchfork and torch ready to go. That being said, I think that at the very least Selig should order an immediate review of all stadium railings regardless of the whether they meet the local code. I can't believe that the Rangers let their fans sit in the same area where Mr.Stone fell to his death w/out doing something about the railing. That's just nuts.
  9. Congrats!!! You are now a level 5 whiney ass baseball fan, the Red Sox level! Last April, Ibanez hit .222 with one homer. .243 Pre all star break, .309 after the break. Few folks of any age in baseball work out as hard as he does. And players have actually been productive at that ancient age. by the by, your fucked team is 18 and 9 and in a tie for first place. Without production from Left field. Without Chase Utley(who is supposedly going to start playing in games very soon)Without your closer. So.Very.Fucked! 2nd best record due only to the fact that we had the easiest schedule in the majors - the Nats, Mets, Pads, Astros, D-Backs are not exactly playoff material. Are any of those teams playing .500 ball?? No. Ibanez is not going to regain the form that he had last season after the all star break unless he hires Greg Anderson. He turns 39 in less than 4 weeks. He's done. Utley is progressing but it's still uncertain when or IF he will be back. Even if he does make it back this season I don't think his body can take being an everyday player anymore. Look, anyone who has watched the Fightin's this season know that they have a lot of question marks surrounding their hitting and bullpen. The Phantastic 4 are masking their problems - for now - but at some point the lack of hitting and miserable bullpen will catch up to them. The schedule is about to get a lot harder in May. So do we have a right to complain? Shit yeah. Am I giving up on my team a la the way a certain Red Sox fan in this folder did back in the first week of the season? Hell no. But as this team is constructed right now we are fucked. We will be lucky to sneak into the playoffs w/ this roster. Rube needs to get a bat or two and pray that Lidge and Contreras make it back if we are going to make any noise in October. So please do not promote me to level 5 just yet BTW, Cole Hamels is just plain NASTY. Well, clearly Ibanez is done! :P Are you happy today? And yes, Hamels is still NASTY. A nice finish to the first half today. And yes Ibanez seems to like batting vs. Proctor.
  10. So has Selig ordered a review of all of the safety railing in MLB's stadiums yet?? This is the 2nd time this season that a fan has fallen to his death at a game. What about the Rangers?? What have they done to make sure this accident doesn't happen again?? That's twice in two seasons that a fan has fallen out of the stands in Arlington and the 3rd time since the Ballpark opened in 1994. Here's a short, interesting article on fan safety in professional sports venues.

  12. Fucking Ryan Overpaid Howard.
  13. The Phillies brought up a kid from the minors named Juan Perez and in his first appearance tonight he struck out the side. On 9 pitches! Holy Shit!! and now thanks to Raul Ibanez's walk off homer(jeez, who saw that coming?? Not me.) Perez just got the win.
  14. Dan, when I heard this story on the radio this morning my first thought, after the initial shock had worn off, was, "I hope it wasn't Josh Hamilton that threw the ball." I hope the Rangers are looking out for him. This story also highlights the dangers of some modern ballparks. In order to maximize the fan's sight lines the protective walls/barriers have been lowered in most of the new stadiums. I know at Citizens Bank Park here in Philly I get vertigo every time I sit up near the edge of the upper deck. There is a low 2 1/2 foot high concrete retaining wall and on top of that wall there is 6 to 8 inches of plexiglass. The whole wall comes up to just about knee level. That's all that separates you from falling into the abyss. And the aisles are so fucking narrow that one accidental bump and you could go flying right over the wall. It's a miracle that this hasn't happened before now.
  15. Freedom or free dumb? http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2011/07/parish_man_protesting_motorcyc.html Parish man, protesting motorcycle helmet laws, dies from head injury, troopers say Published: Saturday, July 02, 2011, 7:14 PM Updated: Saturday, July 02, 2011, 7:33 PM John Mariani / The Post-Standard By John Mariani / The Post-Standard Town of Onondaga, NY – A Parish man who was participating in a motorcycle helmet protest ride was killed this afternoon when he went over the handlebars of his motorcycle and injured his head on the pavement, state police said. Philip A. Contos, 55, of 45 East St., Parish, was not wearing a helmet while driving a 1983 Harley Davidson motorcycle south on Route 11 in Onondaga with a large group of other motorcyclists, troopers said. About 1:30 p.m., troopers said, Contos hit his brakes, the motorcycle fishtailed and went out of control and Contos went over the handlebars. Contos was taken to Upstate University Hospital where he was pronounced dead, troopers said. Evidence at the scene and information from the attending physician indicate Contos would have survived if he had been wearing a Department of Transportation approved helmet, troopers said. The protest in which Contos was riding was organized by American Bikers Aimed Towards Education, Trooper Jack Keller said. © 2011 syracuse.com. All rights reserved.
  16. A-Rod: Jose Reyes is 'greatest' So does he go to the Yankees or the Phillies next year?
  17. I really don't understand this move. For the past week the Flyers have been saying that the reason they traded Carter/Richards was that they needed to get younger. So what do they do? They spend $3 million on a 39 year old player who last skated in the NHL in 2008. WTF? And they let Leino sign w/ Buffalo. Though @ $27M over 6 years me thinks the Sabres overpaid. Flyers need some scoring help. Hopefully they can re-sign Gagne.
  18. Lucky break for the Red Sox. Lucky non-break for the Fightin's. X-rays negative. Said he would make his next start.
  19. What a game! 4th shutout this season. 32 innings w/out a run and he has 1 earned run in 42 innings in the month of June.
  20. Not sure to what extent you can use this series as a yardstick. Beckett, although starting tonight, hasn't pitched in awhile, plus injuries to Crawford, Lawrie and Bucholtz and having Big Papi pretty much confined to the bench put the Sox at too big a disadvantage to call this a true WS preview. That's kind of a one sided perspective don't cha think? The Phillies have no closer right now having placed Ryan Madson on the DL today where he joins Joe Blanton, Bradley Thomas Lidge, Jose Contreras, and Roy Oswalt. Not to mention that Utley and Polanco are not at 100%. Regardless, even if both teams were at full strength what happens in June has little worth for predicting what might happen come October.
  21. 15-0????? The Dodgers should file for bankruptcy more often.
  22. Carlos Beltran will be available soon... Would love to have him but I can't see the Mets trading him to the Phillies. I remember him from the 70's when he was the local sportscaster in Baltimore. Seemed liked a good guy.
  23. The Phillies will be eliminated in the first round of the playoffs if they don't get a right handed bat that can hit before the trading deadline.
  24. I think Roy Oswalt may have pitched his last game.
  25. WHOA! The Flyers just pulled off two trades. One sending away Jeff Carter for Jakub Voracek plus a first(8th overall) and a third round pick. The other one is captain Michael Richards for Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds. Mind reeling.... http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=6697235 http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=6697424
