  1. Last night it was the Matthew Shipp Trio. Monday night it's Flower Travellin' Band!!
  2. Wayne Shorter - Moto Grosso Feio (UAR/Blue Note - blue label) After listening to "Where Fortune Smiles" the other day I got the itch to hear some more McLaughlin. Generally, I'm not really a fan of jazz guitar but I really like what I've heard of his playing from the 1969-70 time period. BTW, is this available on CD? There are plenty of used copies of this on vinyl but they are always beat to hell.
  3. Charles Bobo Shaw/The Human Rights Ensemble - Junk Trap (Black Saint)
  4. No, I wasn't that lucky. This one is the reissue on Pye. Yeah, that Dawn gatefold is pretty cool.
  5. Earlier... New York Philharmonic Boulez Conducts Varese – Ameriques, Arcana, Ionisation (CBS Masterworks gray label) Now... Love the samples I heard, just can't afford the cd at the moment. Kick-ass record. Yeah. I haven't heard this one in a while. A friend of mine owns it. I bet he NEVER listens to it anymore, and never will... There is an absolutely priceless picture of Stu Martin in it, if I remember. I would love to hear this again... Picked this up in a used record shop today for $5. I had passed on it a number of times before but after reading this thread I decided to take a chance on it. Glad I did.
  6. Not really sure where to put this.... In my Gmail account today was the following sponsored link: Hammond B3 Soul Jazz - www.organissimo.org - Funky, inventive, and fresh jazz trio for the new millennium.
  7. Clifford Thornton - Communications Network (Third World)

Here's a feature on Ars Nova Workshop from WHYY...... http://whyy.org/cms/news/2009/03/06/experi...iladelphia/3824 Christman founded Ars Nova Workshop in 2000. The nonprofit group organizes performances of old and new experimental music. In the coming months, he’ll be creating a record label to get the performances from the past decade out to the wider world of jazz lovers. Check out this list of past performances!!!! http://arsnovaworkshop.com/frame_archive.html

  10. Julius Hemphill & Abdul K. Wadud - Live in New York - (Red)
  11. Last-place team in a small market, not exactly a glamor location, young quarterback, freezing cold from November on. ... What could go wrong? HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Man, I'm stunned, STUNNED that they paid him $6.5M. And it's all guaranteed. WTF?????
  12. Dudu Pukwana - In the Townships (reissue on Virgin/Earthworks)
  13. He was due 9 million this season and the Cowboys would have had to pay a significant amount of his salary if they found someone dumb enough to take him. If some team does sign him it will probably be near or at the league minimum. I don't think even Al Davis is foolish enough to pay him more than that.

  15. Ahem. Most Britons have lied about the books they read http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090305/od_nm/...ooks_lies_odd_3
  16. Man, there is no way A-Rod gets back in 10 weeks if he has the surgery now. He has a torn labrum. He will need surgery at some point despite what the Yankees are saying. The longer he waits the worse the injury will get and the longer the recovery time will be. It's the same injury that Chase Utley and Mike Lowell are both recovering from. Utley had his surgery 3.5 months ago and he hasn't had an AB this Spring. Lowell had his surgery in October and is two weeks away from playing his first game.
  17. I got my dates messed up. March 1 is the date teams have to be under the salary cap. June 1 is the roster bonus date. Shamelessly stolen from some Cowboys' blog.... Cowboys | Salary cap ramifications of Owens’ release Wed, 04 Mar 2009 23:59:04 -0800 Clarence E. Hill, Jr., of The Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports WR Terrell Owens will count $9.675 million in dead money against the Dallas Cowboys’ salary cap in 2009, but they will only lose $680,000 in actual cap money. The team saves $3.1 million in real dollars because he will not receive a June 1 roster bonus. He was previously set to cost the team $8.995 million against the cap Again I like the move (and cutting Roy Williams too). I think they will better off for it.
  18. Here's a link to the article.... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3954457 love this comment at the bottom..... He's going to miss April and part of May??? But those are his most productive months! Gee, I wonder if there is anything he could take to help heal faster?
  19. Beaver Harris 360 Degree Music Experience - In: Sanity (Black Saint) How is this? I've never got around to listening to it.
  20. Cowboys cut T.O. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3953647 Good move for Dallas. Addition by subtraction. Question for Dallas fans - Why didn't Jones cut him before March 1st?? Doesn't he have to pay him the roster bonus now??
  21. George Lewis/Douglas Ewart - Jila-Save! Mon.: The Imaginary Suite (Black Saint)
  22. Sam Rivers - Crystals (Impulse!)
  23. Leroy Jenkins - "For Players Only" (JCOA)
  24. Get the box set. It's pretty cheap if you order from Cadillac direct. http://www.cadillacjazz.co.uk/index.html Edit: Actually... do you have "Very Urgent" ?? I would get that first.
