  1. Man, the Phils' pitching got clobbered again today. Good thing these games in April don't count. Bring on the regular season already.
  2. http://cgi.ebay.com/JOE-HARRIOTT-AMANCIO-D...idZp1638Q2em122 Went for £318.88 ($466.95)
  3. ESPN is reporting that tonight's game between the Angels and the A's has been postponed. More here... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4055343
  4. That's awful. Poor kid.
  5. Absolutely no problems with Firefox here*. I use it on 7 machines. * = can't open links with .pdf files but that's a known issue.
  6. You know the Atlanta Braves got a bunch better this off season. And if they were still playing in the NL West they would have a good shot for the playoffs. BUT...... they're not. So the best they can hope for - right now - is 3rd place. And if you have any doubts about this I refer you to today's game vs. the Phillies. Vazquez gave the Braves bullpen a 7 run lead going into the 7th. And they blew it. Atlanta will not make the playoffs with this bullpen. It needs a big time make over. And until that happens they can forget about the postseason**. ** See New York Mets 2008.
  7. It don't mean a thing if you ain't got that ring...... http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/phi/p.../cf4167470.html
  8. I thought you had a copy already?? Has it ever been available on CD??

  10. I'm OK with the mono/stereo thingy but I wished that they had made them available in a high res format. That's the real problem here, imho. I mean they spend 4 years and gobs of money on getting the remastering just right and they put it out on CD??? Are the DVD's going to be available in Blu-Ray??
  11. I'm a little late to the party but here's mine..... I don't remember all of the names of the equipment in this picture but as you can see Mrs. Deeley likes it!

    Bud Shank R.I.P.

R.I.P. I was fortune to see him play 2 years ago here in Philly. He was still bringing it at 80.
  13. Jack Rose - Kensington Blues (VHF) I don't know if this is a digital recording/mix(no info on the disc) but this actually sounds better than the CD. Weird.

  15. I f I were not not familiar with the earlier mix versions I probably would have such a strong reaction to Norman's mix. Should read,"If I were not familiar with....I probably would NOT have....." Hope that is a little clearer now.
  16. Now see I'm one of the ones that think the Fillmore West Box sounds like crap. Jeffrey Norman BOTCHED the job big time, IMHO. I'll take the Latvala Box mix(even though it's missing a good chunk of 3/2 and has some other mini "cuts of death") which came out about 12 years ago over the hack's work any day. What's sadder still is that the FW box was the best chance that we will probably ever have of getting the complete run out in pristine quality and they blew it. Also, Charlie Miller may have been working from an inferior source but I trust his ears more than I trust Norman's. YMMV. EDIT: I might have been a bit overboard in my previous comments. It sounds pretty good actually. My complaints are due to the fact that Norman added A LOT of effects to the mix that were not present in the performance or original recording. If I were not not familiar with the earlier mix versions I probably would have such a strong reaction to Norman's mix. But I've listened to the other mixes so many times that they have written themselves into my DNA.
  17. 25 years ago today.... "Father, father. We don't need to escalate."
  18. I'm almost tempted to buy multiple copies of this. Probably a better investment than the stock market right now.
  19. Damn. Nova could go all the way.
  20. Have to dig that out again sometime. I remember being 'bored' by it on my last listen... I like it but I'll admit that I do find this album to be difficult to listen to. I think that it has more to do with their performances being so raw and emotional than boring(though it probably could have been paired down to a single lp.) I really get the feeling that they were in a lot of pain and this session was a very cathartic experience for them. Stark contrast to the "Blue Notes for Johnny" session which sounds more like a wake.

    Funny Rat

From the new DMG newsletter..... Shoji Hano's own new label Heart Lord! PETER BROTZMANN/SHOJI HANO - Funny Rat/S 2 (Heart Lord; Japan) Funny Rat/S1 was released on the IMJ [improvised Music Japn] label - an amazing rave-up. More intensity is found here on S2! CD $25 PETER BROTZMANN/SHOJI HANO - Funny Rat/S 3 (Heart Lord; Japan) [please note: our full order of this one did not arrive, so you may be back-oredered on it for a short time] CD $25 SHOJI HANO - Drums (Heart Lord; Japan) Drums in this case means a slightly non-standard kit of bass drum, two tom-toms, two cymbals and a hi-hat. No snare, the drum that usually sits at the heart of a kit. Deprived of its crisp articulations, Hano relies much more on toms and hi-hat than would normally be the case, producing a sound that owes more to rock music than jazz. Having said that his approach is far from monolithia, and technically he's light years ahead of all but the best rock drummers -and,for that matter jazz drummers too. Of the five pieces on Drums, "Improvisation3", which features cymbals, and "Improvisation4", which initially draws sounds out of near silence, are the tracks, I'll most often return to , but drummers will marvel at everything he does. - Brian Marley, Wire CD $25
