  1. (((Danny Ainge))) Get well soon.
  2. I remember going to see the Phillies play one of their last games in Connie Mack stadium back in September of 1970. I may have been at others but that's the first one that I remember. We had great seats on the 3rd base side. My mom was dating one of the Phils(Barry Lersch)at the time. I still have two baseballs that he gave me, one of which was signed by the whole team.
  3. Luckily for Boston they have the easiest road to the conference finals of the 4 top seeds. Hopefully for them KG will be back by then or it will be a short series. Although I'm not totally convinced they have what it takes to get by the Cavs w/ him. So... First round I like Cleveland Miami Boston Orlando and Lakers Portland Denver SA 2nd round Cavs Boston Lakers Denver 3rd round Cavs Lakers Championship Lakers in 6
  4. I always turn down the sound when the Eagles are playing and listen to the local radio broadcast by Merrill Reese. Merrill is such a homer he bleeds green. Anyway, It's usually a *little* out of synch(radio feed arrives before the action on tv) but it's better than listening to Joe Buck who I absolutely cannot stand. Why Fox makes him their number one guy for Football AND Baseball is beyond me.
  5. The Indians scored 9 runs in one inning?? I got a feeling this is gonna be a l-o-n-g season the Yanks.
  6. I just want to hijack this thread for a moment.... My Mother-in-Law is a Sinatra FREAK. A couple of years ago we were listening to the radio and Sinatra's version of George Harrison's "Something" came on and she started singing along. So I said,"I didn't know you liked the Beatles" and she said,"Well, I did before they got all WEIRD." Carry on.
  7. Wade, Michael Redd(before he got hurt), Bynum, Gasol, Devin Harris, David West(stud), Monta Ellis for the 10 games that he played, Rip & Tayshaun, and a bunch of scrubs who played out of their heads the past few weeks.
  8. One friggin' blocked shot.
  9. As one of my co-workers just said,"There's goes Frank Caliendo's entire act." I liked Madden despite his man crush on Farve.
  10. Damn, you had me going there for a minute.
  11. I participate in a Fantasy BB league with 9 other people. We've been going at it since the first game of the season. I made it to the playoffs and somehow made it to the final. Anyway with yesterday being the last day of the NBA the final results are in and I lost the championship by one friggin' blocked shot. :bwallace2:
  12. Don Cherry - Relativity Suite (JCOA) Edit: Has any of the JCOA stuff ever made it into the digital realm legally? Great idea for a Mosaic box.
  13. Iverson banned at 2 Detroit casinos..... http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/43020567.html Iverson caused a disturbance at a casino outside Minneapolis earlier this season and had a long history in Atlantic City while he was with the 76ers. In December 2005, Iverson got into an argument with a dealer at the Trump Taj Mahal casino after the dealer overpaid him $10,000 on a bet he made while playing three-card stud poker. Iverson initially refused to give the chips back but did so later and received a gaming voucher in that amount from the Taj. In February 2004, Iverson urinated into a trashcan at Bally's on the casino floor, shocking nearby patrons. Holy crap I like the guy but I can't defend him on that. WTF?
  14. Thank you for posting that. I just sent it to my dad.
  15. One last item on Harry the K. - then I promise to stop. Great article from Jayson Stark which pretty accurately describes what I'm feeling right now. So here is what people like me, people who have lived most of our lives in Philadelphia, are wondering on this sad and tragic day: How are we going to do this? How are we going to go on in a world with no more "outta heres?" How do we fill the unfillable void that will hang over us forever now as we try to contemplate life, and baseball, without Kalas? Can't be done. Can it? The games will go on. The sport will go on. Voices will crackle out of our TV speakers. That's the way it has to work. That's the way it has always worked. But we don't have to pretend it will ever be the same, because when you've spent 6,000 nights, over four decades, listening to Harry Kalas put his inimitable stamp on a baseball game, it's way too simple to say baseball will never sound the same. Baseball in Philadelphia will never be the same. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stor...&id=4066189
  16. Can someone explain what the hell happened for those of us, like myself, who are in the dark about this little/big brother stuff?
  17. R.I.P. Bird. Here's an article on Harry the K from SI. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/base...f=si_topstories Here's a great video from WHYY on Harry from 2004. Awesome vintage film through out.... http://www.whyy.org/tv12/kalas.html
  18. Rest in Peace, Harry. You were the best announcer bar none and you will be missed.
  19. Shit. They just announced that he died.
  20. The local all news radio station is reporting that Hall of Fame broadcaster Harry Kalas has been taken to a Washington D.C. hospital. No further info is available but it is believed to be serious. Edit: apparently he passed out in the broadcast booth. He had a heart procedure just 4 weeks ago.
  21. 6/12/2009 8:00 PM at Odean Pope + Sunny Murray @ Philadelphia Art Alliance 251 S. 18th Street, Philadelphia, Cost: 12.00

  23. Let us know how that works out for you.
  24. The Soft Boys - Underwater Moonlight (Base)
  25. Just got back from two shows. Early was Robyn Hitchcock and the Venus 3(featuring Peter Buck of R.E.M. on guitar) and later was Bardo Pond. My ears have been been shredded. I think this is the latest I've been up since I was in my 30's.
