That would be fun to see.

Good call, Moms. Can't speak from any informed point of view on Mr. Work, but I hear you. And I'll hear this.

Crawford's gone, of course. I think Soriano's likely gone, too. Pena hardly had a standout year and could give the old hometown discount. Fan base is OK, just not eager to pry open the old wallet for ballgames in a crappy park. I think they do quite well as far as TV ratings go, if that's any gauge. And they did pack the place for the playoffs. I noticed some wide open spaces in the upper decks at Turner Field in their deciding game. I think this attendance thing is more widespread than Tampa-St. Pete. Tampa averaged 23,000; Cincinnati 25,000; San Diego 26,000. All pretty disappointing for teams taking a run at the playoffs all year. Anyways, as they refer to the offseason round here ... back to the drawing board.

Followed the game at work tonight, of course. Rangers were the better team and deserved the series. Lee was outstanding. Have to root for Texas vs. the Yankees. Offseason should be interesting for the Rays.

I really enjoy the slower tempo version(s) as well. Will check out 'Historically Speaking.'

Yes, nice article. Thanks for linking it. -
Good Favre, bad Favre. Game over.

Should be a good one. Momentum's with the Rays now that their offense has awakened a bit and they're back home. Might have taken Longoria a couple of games to get his timing back, I guess. He seems locked in pretty good at the plate now. But this one will be all about Lee and Price.

Hadn't considered a Lincecum-Halladay matchup. Love to see that, of course. Still, for tonight, Go Braves!

This is starting to sound like a Woody Allen storyline. My take: You're fortunate to have had a nest. And a successful one, sounds like. Well done.

You...you....baseball whore! Bottom of the third: Braves 1, Giants 0 Lets play two!

Nice. Thanks. Love the photo of Wenzel as a young child sitting in front of his record player, records all over the floor -- much like Steve McQueen and his records all over the floor in the Time photos linked in another thread. What's the deal with leaving records out of their sleeves all over the floor? I don't remember doing that when I had records. -
Go Bravos! Not that I really care much who wins this series. Just want to see more playoff baseball. So, tonight I'm rooting for the Braves. Might be the Giants next time, who knows?

Iggles= Eagles, Gents= Giants Sorry Bruce. Yeah, Eagles and Giants. Heard on Around the Horn earlier tonight that Favre is the 31st-ranked QB in the league. Not surprised, but kind of surprising anyways. Anyone betting he'll improve that ranking tonight with Moss? He's got a possible sexual harassment issue hanging over his head. No telling how he'll react. Could be lights out. Could be useless. Could be no different than he has been this season. Who the hell knows? It would take a betting man with some serious cujones to go either way tonight. Jets are favored by 4 points.

Is anybody playing consistently good football yet this year? I guess it's safe to say Alex Smith is a bust. Only saw the highlights (lowlights) from last night's game, but he has 6 TDs, 9 INTs so far this year and a 62.1 QB rating. 49ers are a big disappointment so far. OTOH, the Cowboys are a pleasant surprise. I'm hoping that some NFC East team other than the 'Boyz gets to the Super Bowl in Jerryworld this year. Against the Steelers. My preference would be the Redskins, but I'd settle for the Iggles or Gents. Jerry's head might explode. A grand total of 2 teams in the AFC West and NFC West have winning records. That would be Arizona and KC. Anybody pick either of those two to be leading their divisions in the early going? Falcons look good. It was the Browns they beat Sunday, but still. You gotta win the games you're supposed to win. Which Green Bay, Cincinnati, New Orleans and San Diego didn't do. Love the Ravens. Will Carson Palmer get it together this season?

Thanks Jeff. Love the last line in the first linked article, re all the touring: "My daughter told her teacher that I worked at the airport."

I wonder if they'll succee?

I kind of dig that pad ... man. -
Enjoyed it. Thanks. And keep moving forward!

Maybe you aren't aware that some of us on here have 5,000+ titles(CD, LPs etc).... I think he's quite aware. It would be difficult not to be. All I'd say is that for every seller there is a buyer.

It seemed like every time I looked up at the TV there were Phillies all over the bases. First and third. First and second. Bases loaded. The Reds gave up 8 hits, but also made four errors, issued six walks -- one of which forced in a run -- and plunked (drilled) two consecutive batters. Giants-Braves game was great. What an ending! Braves will be tough at home, I guess. Best home record in baseball or something like that?

Whenever I unload CDs, which isn't all that often, it's not really for economic reasons. Don't really make all that much money selling used CDs for around $5 - $10 a pop. It's more to clear shelf space of stuff I'm no longer interested in, or eliminate overlapping material, and get those CDs into the hands of someone who might enjoy them. I've never sold stuff that would be considered valuable, I don't think -- except for some free jazz box sets.

Yes. Of the three blown calls yesterday (the other two resulting in managers getting tossed in the two ALDS games), that was the only one that really had an impact on the possible outcome of the game. Posey was out. He pretty much admitted it after the game. Without that run, it's 0-0 after 9. Lincecum was amazing though.

I feel bad for the Rays--a couple of questionable calls for them in the first two games. I sure didn't expect Texas to take both games from them on the road; didn't expect the Yankees to do it against the Twins, either. The best thing about tonight's game was Andy Pettitte's return to form. After the first two innings, which seemed similar to his previous struggles since coming back from the DL, he seemed to pitch like Andy Pettitte again. If he's finally back on his game, that would obviously be a very good thing for NY. Great 8th inning from Kerry Wood as well, and Curtis Granderson continues his new-and-dangerously-improved ways at the plate. I still think Philadelphia takes it all, no matter who lands in the WS on the AL side of things. The Rays have no offense. They've scored 17 runs in their last 10 games (1.7 runs per game), are now 3-7 over that stretch and have been shut out in four of those 10 games -- this while closing the season against Baltimore and KC. They have a grand total of 50 hits over the last 10 games (5 per game avg). The pitching is shaky and susceptible to giving up big innings, but with no run support it doesn't much matter what kind of pitching you get. The bad call on the swinging strike might have changed the score, but not the outcome. And missed calls happen. The Rays just know they can't overcome them. I think it's Philadelphia's year, too. I do like Cincinnati as kind of a sentimental favorite, so maybe they can catch some lightning in a bottle for a few games and still pull the upset. But assuming Philly advances, once you get into seven-game series, that rotation is going to be very difficult for anyone to get four wins against. (Now, imagine the Rays hacking away against the Phillies rotation.)

The pitching is one thing. They seem to get shaken up pretty easily. Didn't care much for Shields stomping around in the dugout over a non-called strike after he was pulled. But their offense just isn't getting it done, and hasn't for some time now. Crawling back from a 6-run deficit is going to be near impossible.
