  1. Thank you for all your good wishes. At this particular anniversary I need all I can get. And it's good to have some great friends on the board. I guess I can officially join the old farts club now though I've probably been one for a while.
  2. Sounds fine to me too Paul
  3. Happy Birthday Mike
  4. Strange funky album. I had it when t first came out and found it very disappointing. Didn't keep it too long.
  5. Inspired by a short discussion in another thread. Japanese pressing.
  6. Happy Birthday Alan
  7. Happy Birthday Hans

I did catch this Rollins band at Ronnie's. Not much memory of the evening apart from Harley's kilt and bagpipes so the programme went down well for me. In the circumstances it's good fortune that the recording survived. Also this evening more archive material - Jazz Piano Gold.

Plus a repeat of the Nica documentary, The Jazz Baroness on Saturday.
  10. I've always been wary of Carrere pressings though most that I bought have not been great, but satisfactory. Somehow the pressings always looked a bit odd. The strangest one just cut off a couple of minutes into a track and then went into the run off groove.
  11. On my old Epson I used compatibles. Didn't work bad but I always seemed to cleaning the head. On my current Epson I'm using their own brand and there's no doubt they are better.
  12. Murray's Steps Probably my favourite of the Soul Note/Black Saint Octets.
  13. Sad and tragic.
  14. Bobby Hutcherson; Medina. Blue Note rainbow.
  15. Lee Morgan; Tom Cat. Blue Note rainbow.
  16. Just heard from Instant Jazz that Emanem are issuing this with extra music
  17. My replacement set has just arrived. Playing Ming now, much better!
  18. Charlie Persip and the Jazz Statesmen; Right Down Front. Bethlehem, Cayre pressing.
  19. Same here, pretty impressive service.
  20. Not a sign of snow here, just some light rain last evening.
  21. My Jaki Byard Here's Jaki (New Jazz RVG) looks fine but has continual surface noise.
  22. No, me too!
  23. I gave up on both these publications some time ago. I found I could get more information about jazz from being a member of this forum! Totally agree ! Plus the fact that it now costs best part of a fiver each. Having said that, they are a bargain compared with the rail ticket I ended up buying yesterday (just under £100, plus I wasn't going to Mars ). One of the Jazz Journals before Xmas had an article on Michael Cuscuna and Mosaic. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get hold of it. Anyone manage to pick up a copy and able to comment on it? Bob, The Cuscuna piece in JJ was hardly worth reading, just one page with nothing of interest or anything we didn't already know.
