Why does the Bible have to be so long-winded and difficult to decipher when it is used to explain straightforward, simple things such as morality and respect? Trust in the motivations of the people who have translated this ancient document and in those who originally transcribed the word-of-mouth stories is misplaced. They seem an awful wide chasm between Christians and the basis of their spirituality. Ever play the children's game telephone? The story always changes beyond recognition by the time it is whispered to the final person. For me, the lessons from the Bible which make the most sense and are most applicable to the modern world should be kept, and the rest ought to be tossed out. None of the lessons should be so rigid as to not adapt. Clinging to a bunch of stories and worrying about the details of the stories is not productive and is nothing that will ever achieve a consensus. The lessons are the point, not who begat who. What is the point of caring whether or not Jesus is God's only Son? From where I sit, this is a contention which only results in divisiveness. The very point of such a claim is to divide. Is that what Jesus would have wanted? I'm an agnostic who hasn't read the Bible, so these are just surface impressions.

Shaq bodied Ben clear out of the lane on the very next time down court. Could have been an offensive foul. The officiating has been atrociously inconsistent all playoffs long. The NBA wants a long playoff series, not a sweep. The teams ultimately decide games, but the officials do all they can to try and make these things go seven games.

No, I mean Ben's hip hitting Shaq's body before he ever touches the ball. If you watch the youtube clip, the announcer even starts to say, "lots of contact."

As much as I'm willing to give a defender the benefit of the doubt for getting the ball up top, any other player making that much body contact with a player in the act of shooting gets called for the foul. That was home cookin', folks. Nice toss by Crawford on the ensuing jump ball, too. That said, I can see the Pistons winning the next two to go on to the Finals.

All hype aside, Van Gogh's paintings are beautiful in person. While people huddled in great numbers around famous Van Gogh paintings, I was able to spend great amounts of time looking at lesser known ones, revelling in their complexity.

Riles is outcoaching Flip big time. Flash is killin' the Pistons, he shot 75% the last two games! The Pistons appear to be imploding, they're scoring an astounding 24 points less in the last nine playoff games than they did in the preceding playoff games. A few games ago I wouldn't have doubted the Pistons' ability to right the ship, but man are they playing bad! Where's the D? I've started rooting for the Suns, a sure way to make them lose. Muwahahahaha!

I was into alternative rock, my first few cds were Echo & The Bunnymen - s/t, REM - Eponymous, and The Smiths - Meat Is Murder. They don't get much play time these days.
