  1. This is a favorite of mine, too.
  2. I'll submit picks.
  3. The Talkin' Verve compilation is my favorite Bobo best of. Here's the track list: 1. Grazin' In The Grass 2. Lisa 3. Black Coffee 4. The Look Of Love 5. Dreams 6. Evil Ways 7. Night Song 8. Mercy, Mercy, Mercy 9. Roots 10. Spanish Grease 11. Shot Gun/Blind Man, Blind Man 12. Stuff 13. Night Walk 14. Fried Neckbones & Some Home Fries 15. Sham Time
  4. He'd be even more disturbed if he WAS 30.
  5. I really enjoy Invitation To Openness. Other albums I find comparable for some reason are Larry Coryell Barefoot Boy, Pat Martino/Gil Goldstein We'll Be Together Again, Rahsaan Roland Kirk Case Of The Three Sided Dream In Audio Color, and Yusef Lateef Suite 16 and Part Of The Search. Although they don't have similar sounds and have recognizably separate tracks, they're all an "album experience" with a theme imposed over the duration. They're fun to throw on and listen to entire. Layers is fascinating from an electronic music perspective (ei. Raymond Scott). It's a bit like Jan Hammer's The First Seven Days, but with a more hip hop-prescient drum sense.
  6. ^^^ Instantly made my palms sweaty.
  7. Probably not deep enough, but it's sure going to be fun to watch. Between Nash and Gasol, the passing will be beautiful. The defense, not so pretty (although Dwight will shore up the middle better than Bynum). The bench also has added scoring with Antawn Jamison and Jodie Meeks. It gives the Lakers a puncher's chance at the title, whereas last year I knew they didn't have any chance at all.
  8. Number one for me is definitely the 2nd plane hitting the tower on 9/11, just like thedwork. I was watching it with my mother. Number two: The North Hollywood bank robbery. Others that come to mind: The Challenger exploding. I was in grade school and they had it on live on TVs in every classroom. The LA riots, including the Reginald Denny assault. The stolen tank chase in San Diego. Hank Gathers collapsing.
  9. Didn't know that. My version includes those lines. An unedited reissue, I guess.
  10. I love that album too, freelancer! I'll have to pick up Pat's "new" one.
  11. I scroll down to "Today's Active Content" when I get a small return from "View New Content."
  12. I had this for a while. It would freak people out.
  13. They're pretty good, BF. My friend was playing the album yesterday while we BBQ'd and watched fireworks at The Rose Bowl. The lady singer has a very soulful voice. The instrumentals are sweet without being sickly. Sincere, good quality music. The downside is it all sounds a little same-y, from track to track. I imagine they're fun live.
  14. Picked up Alabama Shakes Boys & Girls with this one. Thanks GA!
  15. None of the picks were all that high anyway. I've always been a fan of Nash's game and I think it will be fun to watch him distribute to the other Lakers. It won't be enough for a championship unless they can swap Bynum for Howard and perhaps add a few other pieces to bolster the bench. Apparently Grant Hill will either follow Nash to the Lakers or retire. Not gettin' younger...but neither is Kobe.
  16. For me Napoleon Dynamite got funnier with successive views. The true-to-life nerdiness of the characters struck a chord.
  17. I have a Kindle and like many others here I love it. With music taking up so much shelf space, I decided books without images may as well be all digital. I'm on the first generation one. Bought my Mom the Kindle Fire and she's super jazzed about it. She's got books, her music, some pictures, and she can check her email on it. That's about all she uses any computer-type device for anyway.
  18. Both hilarious, TedR!
  19. Better Off Dead Weird Science Smokey & The Bandit Ferris Beuller's Day Off Back To School Scrooged Bull Durham
  20. Airplane! Caddyshack The Jerk Up In Smoke Friday Plains Trains & Automobiles Vacation Beverly Hills Cop
