  2. If you don't know, perhaps you should stay out of the thread.

  6. One Artist - 16 Albums Meet the Universal Music Group Street Team
  7. Finally, a legit release! 2-14-68 is a life-changer, one of the best shows ever.
  8. I've wondered the same thing, Larry. Or maybe it's some old trumpet etude?
  9. I'll put in a word for the K2 of "Outward Bound." Does wonders for the rhythm section.
  10. Is the proportion of studio BN to live BN dates really all that far off from the proportions at the other labels?
  11. Good catch, JH! Long live Live/Dead!
  12. 'Bout damn time people noticed how great the "Baby Look at You" alto solo is.
  13. "Hey-Baba-Luboff" gets me every time. Can't get enough of it!
  14. I remember seeing a stack of 'em at the Jazz Record Mart some years back, at a big discount. Maybe it's worth a call? I keep hoping the date will come back in better sound than these quick-and-dirty mastering jobs.
  15. A second for Nature's Miracle here. And consider possible medical causes of the cat's behavior, such as diabetes.
  16. Mike says he's probably on the Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations," but he put down many parts for it and isn't sure which ones were finally used. He's one of the most sure-footed jazz pianists I've ever heard, and a heck of a nice guy.
  17. Ever catch yourself singing "Proust in his first book wrote about, wrote about..."?
  18. And further on up the road, there was Vida Blue Bland.
  19. FWIW, the Jacobs discs are my favorite Debussy discs of all. It's a mystery to me why the Critical Establishment looks askance at them.
  20. Favorite all-out blowing version has to be Basie's "Taxi War Dance." (If you don't think those are "Willow" changes, just give the trombone solo another listen.)
  21. still awaiting recommendations please!!! Hey, quit trying to derail our thread! (That Temirkanov Gayaneh highlights is nice, especially if you can find it cheap. There's no need to hunt down a complete Gayaneh, unless you're really into evening-length boy-loves-girl-and-tractor Soviet ballets.)
  22. Conducted by Efrem Kurtz? I grew up on that record! Seriously. Darned good performances too.
  23. Second disc will shame the first. The publicist was kind enough to send me an advance copy. I'm listening to it right nzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  24. Back on topic: The must-have is the highlights from the Gayaneh ballet. There's nothing else quite like it. Embrace the potboiler!
  25. Oh, if only there were a mashup of the two. I'll be workin' on it. Only problem is, I'm not as familiar with the Rick James record as I am with the Schoenberg.
