    I have the Brilliant Classic box set (the 40 CDs version, not the 170) with all the piano concertos played by Derek Han and the Philharmonia orchestra and I think their performance is great. In addition I am familiar with Brendel and Perahia recordings and I think they are also worth listening, to say the least. The only famous recording I'm not familiar with is Mitsuko Uchida's recordings.

    Anyone who is looking for bargains should check out EMI Icon series. I already have several sets from this series and the next one I'll order will probably be this: 11 CDs for £17.99. From what I've learned, Amazon UK offers the cheapest prices for these box sets. Link to their catalogue on EMI website.

    You might as well get the complete Shostakovich quartets performed by the Borodin Quartet for just a bit more: €26 at amazon.de Are you familiar with this set?

    Caught them earlier, as "And let us not forget the Thad Jones - Mel Lewis band, and its later re-generations... " Sorry Ted, I think I need another coffee this morning...

    Dont forget the Thad Jones / Mel Lewis Orchestra (who later became the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra). This band had its own unique style.
