  1. Mikeweil: Thank you for your info regarding Monk's Prestige box set.I ordered my copy from http://www.zweitausendeins.de/ a week ago.I should receive the box set any day now. I do have Bags' Groove but not that other one and since all its tracks are on that box set I'm not going to buy the individual cd anymore.
  2. Ebay: Chick Corea: Song Of Singing. $8 (including shipping to Finland) I've been looking for this cd for a while. At last I got it! cdon.com Thelonious Monk: Genius of Modern Music Vol 1 & 2 Andrew Hill: Black Fire Chick Corea: Complete IS sessions Circle: Paris Concert DVD: Miles Electric: A Different Kind of Blue

I can also recommend "Grandpa's Spells" with Misha Mengelberg. One of my desert island cds for sure. Another good one is Triot: Sudden Happiness.Take a look at the following link to read its review. http://www.allaboutjazz.com/php/article.php?id=2035
  6. I got my first K2 cds yesterday. Here are my quick opinions on them. The Incredible Jazz Guitar Of Wes Montgomery: No significant improvement compared to its 20-bit edition. Full House: Very balanced and clear sound.Much better than its normal cd edition (1987).
  7. Claude: I just placed my next K2 cd: Workin' With Miles Davis Quintet. I liked its first cd pressing but since I don't have it,I thought to buy it. Can you recommend me any other OJC cds that sound *much* better as K2 editions?
  8. I buy used copies if I save some money. I don't buy any used cds if they have too many scratches (my NAD player is rather sensible to scratches and skips some parts if the cd is in bad condition), and if the price is not at least 30-40% lower than its retail price.
  9. Claude: Yep. Thank you for reminding me of your PM. I didn't remember it at all I guess there is going to be some some sonical improvements in Full House. Its copy made in the 80s sound ok but I hope I didn't spend 2-3 extra Euros for nothing. Steve Hoffman's DCCed "Full House" would probably be the best choice but I can't find it at ebay.com nor anywhere else. Ps. Have you upgraded any other of your old OJCs to K2 editions? Have you noticed any significant sonical improvements in them?
  10. I ordered my first K2 cds from cduniverse.com a week ago. They were shipped on monday. I should get them tomorrow or next monday.I'm anxiously waiting for what differences I'm going to hear.I've listened to the following cds as their original cd copies made in the 80s and I guess those K2 are going to sound *much* better. Do you agree with me? my purchases (shipped on November 1st from cduniverse.com): Wes Montgomery: Full House,The Incredible Jazz Guitar Of Wes Montgomery My next K2 purchase is going to be Workin' with Miles Davis Quintet.I have all those other cds (Steamin', Cookin',Relaxin') as normal 20-bit versions and I don't intend to upgrade them.I save my money to other cds.
  11. I'm going to order this one as well.Mingus is the one who got me into jazz several years ago and I try to purchase as many of his albums as possible.
  12. Maybe I should give another try for those Tale Spinnin' and Mysterious Traveller.I listened to them a few years ago and couldn't understand what was so special about them. I got my Zawinul cd yesterday. It sounds ok and the music is simply beautiful.
  13. kh1958: Let me guess..you are going to buy this one, right?
  14. Thank you guys. I placed my order on the same day when I posted this message.I should get the cd very soon. I've listened to its rather worn vinyl copy at local library and I simply loved it.Very atmospheric as you said. Speaking of those Weather Report albums...I like the first 4 albums. There are no dull moments on those albums in my opinion.I really don't get it what's so special about their later albums like Heavy Weather. They sound so boooring.
  15. Track listing 1.Doctor Honoris Causa 2.In A Silent Way 3.His Last Journey 4.Double Image 5.Arrival In New York Is the current cd edition a decent one or should I wait for its (possible) remastered edition?
  16. I know there are many ways to save endangered species and forest... But the way how they fund the whole "project" Fuck for forest
  17. I posted my latest purchases at forums.allaboutjazz.com and in case you don't read their forums very often.... I bought The Rent in last week. WHAT A SHOW! It's absolutely stunning performance. There is something thrilling about the whole gig, there is not a dull moment on those two cds. In the same order I also bought 5 X Monk 5 X Lacy and The Straight Horn of Steve Lacy. No regrets so far My next purchase is going to be Five Facings. I have borrowed it from a local library *several* times and it's utterly beautiful. How I wish I could also find "Deadline" on cd... There are too many Steve Lacy cds that I'd like to buy but I simply don't have enough money.
  18. Jazzmoose: Maybe I should create a website called "The International Booksniffers' Club" ? "Ok folks, contribute your favorite smelling books, let me know what they smell like, describe the smell with at least 3-4 words"
  19. Alankin: I've read too much crappy SF as well. I can count at least 10-20 short story collections that I wouldn't like to read again just because almost all of the stories were really bad. I prefer short stories over novels, I can't stand those 700-800 page SF novels with TOO much slow-pacing discussions and technical babble in them.
  20. I collect and read scifi books. My father bought around 400 scifi books back in the 80s and I "inherited" his collection a few years ago. Since then I've been trying to find some missing books of my favorite authors like Philip K. Dick, J.G. Ballard,Christopher Priest,Brian Aldiss,Robert Sheckley and many, many others authors whose most works have become OOP. It's a really frustrating hobby as well, going through several online shops, hunting down some specific editions (hardback &paperbacks) but on the other hand I love to place my new books in my bookshelfs and occasionally pick one of them out and sniff the pages. They have some exotic vintage smells for sure. Do you guys ever smell your books? I mean holding some old paperback before you and flipping the pages before your nose? Am I alone with my "perversion" ?
  21. Art Tatum The Complete Pablo Solo Masterpieces I just love it.
  22. 28, 29 in December.
  23. 7/4 You can purchase "Yellow Fields" at jazzos.com for example. Regarding "Pendulum"...A friend of mine was trying to sell his copy yesterday but I postponed my decision. I listened to its sound samples at mp3.com and didn't like it for some reason. I can still remember the day when I borrowed The Colours of Chloe from local library. It was love at first note Bev: Is Yellow Fields as good as Chloe is? According to Penguin Guide it's rated as a 4-star album. I want your honest opinion on this one.
  24. Is this a good one? I love his first album "The Colours Of Chloe" but I'm not sure about this one...
  25. Whoops.. the price has gone up to $81.00. Not so cheap anymore
