Happy Birthday and many happy returns.
-
Love this album. Only a minor point but Leo Wright is on alto and flute rather than tenor. AMG lists Richard Williams as playing "saxophone" as well as trumpet but just a mistake I should think. Also like his stuff with Gigi Gryce a lot (Rat Race Blues, Happenin's, Sayin' Somethin') or anything else by him.

Is this any good, Jazzman4133? Perhaps not big enough?
-
My first New Year on the board - almost a complete year for me and I've enjoyed every minute of it. Happy New Year to everyone, everywhere and particularly to the "talented Mr Couw" who introduced me here.
-
BTW, Jim, I recruited the "talented Mr Couw" to this exercise some time ago and he has already come up trumps quite a few times, with pictures help and other things.
-
The "Road to Ellingtonia" picture has now taken its place in the discography at www.ronnieross.com (never miss a chance to get this in) and is looking good just alongside the new Wes. That 1965 section is the biggest and is getting close to a full house of pictures (some sessions have none of course because not albums). Only "Twice Times Keyboard" to go, and a better one of "Cover Lover".
-
Is there anything that can't be done on this board? Two new pictures already! Many thanks SW and Matt - marvellous job. Perhaps I could recruit you all to the permanent staff of the Ronnie Ross Discography Support Team (unsalaried!)? I too have been wondering about Mark, Jim. Perhaps he's working on his list , no doubt not so readily to hand as mine. I have a CD of cover pictures given to me by my very good friend Jazzman4133 that holds well over a thousand excellent pictures. But it occurred to me that Mark will probably want the backs and insides as well - much more difficult to find I should think.
-
Jim: Please don't spend too long on it. I have looked high and low, searching for titles and numbers separately with Google and other search engines. Many of the albums are not so much rare as obscure. Whether they should form part of a "jazz" discography I have not been able to ascertain as mostly I cannot hear them. I am hoping that a bell might ring with someone if they happen to see a cover on their travels around the web, or maybe even have (or come into the possession of) an album itself. Thanks a lot for trying.
-
Happy Birthday from me too, Tony.
-
The Wes picture is on our site now - definitely better version, Jim. Thanks.
-
Jim, Just looked at this - it looks better than the one I've got already. Thanks. I will try putting it up tomorrow, as well as correcting all the errors that my compiling the list revealed. Always more to do.
-
So here's my list. It's long:- (transferred to Artists Forum - Ronnie Ross thread)

Can anyone join in here? I have been looking for album cover pictures where the personnel included Ronnie Ross for some time and have had some success. They are for the discography I have done for him www.ronnieross.com. I am still missing quite a lot and of course they are hard to come by. I will do a list and post it here if that 's okay with you, Mark. I have asked elsewhere but limited response. If the ones you are looking for are rare, I have found a good source to be eBay, although the posted pictures are of variable quality. It is possible, however, to improve them quite a lot if you have the expertise and the software. Images are dotted around all over the place. Google image searches do not produce much in my experience - it is necessary to use much broader searches and trawl through all the possibilities, one by one, until you strike lucky.

Terribly sad news about a fellow forum member
tooter replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in Forums Discussion
I had never bumped into grey during my short time on the board but I'm sad I never will. From the look of his posts he was a great guy. I would like to add my condolences, to ElizaBETH and his family, to the many already offered here. -
Many Happy Returns, Alexander.

Mike Fitzgerald's next post will be his 1000th
tooter replied to ghost of miles's topic in Forums Discussion
Thanks from me for all the help too, Mike. I've got Rat Race Blues on order. -
Happy Birthday, Moose.
-
Mmmm - okay, I'll allow it. ette / Ed is a bit dodgy though. It didn't hurt a bit, did it?
-
Joe Benjamin / Benjamin Wolf / Wolfe Hudalla / Dolla Brand (I'm sure some of our members must be located in areas where "dollar" is pronounced "dolla")... Joe Benjamin / Benjamin Wolf / Wolfe Hudalla / Dollar Brand / Brandon Karp / - now why didn't you think of that, Couw? I'm working on a new game now. Who is Brandon Karp? (Not the new game - oh, no!)
-
....Joe Benjamin / Benjamin Wolf / Wolfe Hudalla - there you go
-
So how long does this state of affairs last? If you don't hurry you just might miss the chance altogether.
-
Aladair Pege! Hungarian bass player (sure you know him) Anything wrong?? How many times do I have to post this... Doesn't comply with the rules, Brownie. Any name must be complete on one side at least. Otherwise, "Alan" would do. -_- Perhaps you could fit Mr Pege into a chain of your own
-
Well, post the bit you've got and we'll see where it goes.
-
So can't I persude you to have a real go, Ubu? Very difficult to get anywhere near "Lord Jim" with his nineteen, although of course the rules allow you to pinch all or any of his and substitute other names at the end, or beginning, or anywhere in between. With perseverance you could be the leader.
-
Ubu - I am very glad to have another entry. Is nobody else in the puzzle mood, is it too difficult, or maybe too easy to be a challenge? Maybe people have just got better things to do. But there is still time to join in the "fun" Any entry welcomed, even those that break the rules.
