  1. Yeah, he's really something. It's too bad. This record certainly adds to his discographical heft. I have confirmation that it will be distributed overseas by Light in the Attic, and that a PDF of the liners will be included in the Bandcamp digital release. You're welcome -- thank YOU.
  2. Not sure yet, but I'll find out. David Lee still lives in New Orleans but has significant mental health issues.
  3. Correct. No CDs. 4AD still exists and releases new rock music; they are part of the Beggars Banquet/Matador umbrella, and I presume this record will be able to tag along just fine.
  4. The label that is reissuing it is run by a guy who works for 4AD, so I assume so.
  5. So pleased to have been involved in writing the notes for the forthcoming reissue of one of my favorite jazz LPs from the '70s, Alan Braufman's Valley of Search! Out in late June, this is the first-ever authorized LP/digital reissue, featuring Cooper-Moore (then known as Gene Ashton), Cecil McBee, David Lee Jr., and Yohuru Ralph Williams. Available direct from Valley of Search or where better records are sold.
  6. I would not be surprised if they were from the same shoot. The Gigolo, though slated for earlier release, came out after Delightfulee.
  7. Tibet III -- The Music of Tibetan Buddhism (Barenreiter Musicaphon, GER)
  8. Good article. Glad that Jensen was able to speak with her a little.
  9. Burton is a friend, and I'm glad to see him and his music get recognition.
  10. That's cool. My cat shows zero interest in the turntable or the records; she's a big girl, so could tear the whole thing down if she wanted to!
  11. yeah, I've seen that album but never heard it... did pick up a gorgeous duo LP by Reijseger and Sean Bergin called "Mistakes." Recommended. might have to hit the Utrecht fair next year; we were in that city as well on holiday and really fell in love with it.
  12. I got it at another shop so I'm sure it's still there! Now, Orkest De Volharding -- s/t -- (De Volharding, NL) excellent album; previously only had the 7", and this is much more full-on.
  13. Don't have much to add -- posted some reminiscences over on the old Zuckerbook -- but I am glad to have been here while he was alive and making music.
  14. Spoke to him once at length about Eric Dolphy -- he seemed like a really swell guy, not to mention a wonderful player. RIP.
  15. Maarten Van Norden/Boy Raaymakers Quintet -- Chicken Song -- (BVHaast, NL) picked this up along with a number of other nice Dutch records on vacation to Amsterdam this last week.
  16. it is fantastic. Makes me think of a solo Lacy record, but transliterated to fingerstyle guitar. Now: Freakwater -- Feels Like the Third Time -- (Thrill Jockey, US)
  17. Duck Baker -- Duck Baker Plays Monk -- (Triple Point, US)
  18. Theo Loevendie Consort -- Chess! -- (BIM/BASF, NL orig)
  19. ^ oh yes. Now: Pharoah Sanders -- Tauhid -- (Impulse, red/black labels)
  20. haha, so it's only a grand?
  21. looks like it pops up on eBay and Discogs from time to time, not expensive at all.
  22. you made the right decision.
  23. I interviewed him in 2002 and he was a very kind and yes, self-effacing gentleman. My interactions since then have been similar. He's a good person in addition to being a fantastic musician and artist.
