  1. Got a number of highland piping LPs, really great stuff imo.
  2. David Wojnarowicz -- Cross Country -- (Reading Group, UK) audio journal readings from 1989, stunning.
  3. gotcha. He has had health problems so I guess I'm not surprised. Unfortunate, though.
  4. when was Charles originally scheduled? I can't recall what night.
  5. I've never felt that the recordings come in any way close to seeing him live, which is always a treat.
  6. my issues with NB seem to be on the side of mastering, which I believe they often do from MP3s or similarly compressed files.
  7. I think I have a couple with stereo records in mono sleeves, actually -- Tears for Dolphy and Mohawk.
  8. my guess is they ran out of stereo jackets and just used the extra mono sleeves.
  9. Terumasa Hino -- at Berlin Jazz Festival '71 -- (JVC, JP)
  10. RIP. I'd suppose not too many pianists of his school and generation are left.
  11. I think Cecil was pulling William's leg. A lot of these guys love a good yarn. I have heard the broken wrists story before, not just from Sunny.
  12. Yeah, that's the one I have.
  13. I've never seen that -- there are some very obscure Colette exotica recordings, it seems.
  14. The Quintet -- Jazz at Massey Hall -- (Debut, DK)
  15. I don't disagree -- think her small group works of the late 50s/early to mid 60s are the most intriguing. Then again, I've seen the orchestra live (recently) and enjoyed it very much, so... that's the most important thing, I guess.
  16. Sweet! I could never find an original in condition that was satisfactory. Great album though.

  18. oh cool, thanks! ah -- looks like they spelled his name wrong, hence I couldn't find it.
  19. this shop video is destroying my brain. Amazing.
  20. Colours of Chloe still holds up strongly. I also like some of the stuff with Mariano and of course EW's early sideman situations with Wolfgang Dauner a.o.
  21. heard from Torbjörn Sorhüs (Birka Jazz).
  22. yeah, my friend Johan said the same thing -- it would be hard to continue without Harald, even if there are some other people who work there. That's a great photo of him, by the way.
  23. and we're still "holding your drinks" over here.
  24. The founder and owner of Andra Jazz in Stockholm, formerly the book/record shop Blue Tower, Harald Hult has died. Never met the man but I had hoped one day to visit Stockholm and rectify that. Seemed like my kind of guy and my kind of shop... http://matsgus.com/discaholic_corner/?p=111
