  1. Ah, yeah I've never run into a copy of the silk screen original, though I've heard of its existence. Spoke too soon on this one, as the second side is pretty crackly. Oh well. There's always the Tzadik CD reissue...
  2. Leo Smith - Creative Music -1 - (Kabell, US) I've struggled over the years to find a quiet-enough sounding copy of this wonderful solo trumpet, flute and percussion LP. Just bought another that seems to be about as good as one could get.
  3. Exactly. Now: Pak Yan Lau/Chris Corsano - Asbestos & Little Rain - (Les Albums Claus, BE)
  4. ^ great record. Perhaps a little more rugged -- and in part due to the recording quality -- than Metamorphosis, at least in my opinion.
  5. Gato Barbieri & Dollar Brand - Confluence - (Freedom UK) Nice-sounding pressing that has had and will have to do until I get my hands on the Togetherness original. Quite enjoyable duets from 1968.
  6. still have my old Polydor LP as well -- one will eventually have to go, but right now they're sharing a berth.
  7. John Stevens - Spontaneous Music Ensemble - (Marmalade, UK orig) one of my favorites. The new CD reissue does it even better by adding two further cuts.
  8. ^ Perfect time of year for it
  9. The Soft Machine - s/t - (Probe, US spinning-wheel orig)
  10. Jerry Garcia - Garcia - (WB/Ice Nine US green label)
  11. Sad she's gone. Smyth was great.
  12. Sal Mosca & Peter Ind - Solos and Duets - (Wave, UK) sublime and uncomplicated.
  13. Dang. RIP.
  14. Wow -- huge loss. Had been out of town and away from any computers for over a week but saw the news on twitter.
  15. Will this concert be free or do we have to pay?
  16. What do you guys think -- is it worth checking out his music? What are some recommended tracks?
  17. yeah, seems pretty slapdash to me. also surely there were quite a number of great jazz bands that never recorded or properly released any music.
  18. The one with Norman Connors? I thought it was just not very good, not actually gone...
  19. No idea in the slightest. It was taped by the HARYOU organization; maybe WKCR has a copy? The Raretone reissue is a needle-drop I believe. That Bobby Jones rec looks cool - only have Hill Country Suite and his performances w/ Mingus.
  20. I don't know the story but figured you meant Pearson...
  21. Maybe Eero Koivistoinen's Wahoo...?
  22. Me too - never seen it. This one always hurt my feelings a bit: https://www.discogs.com/Kenny-Durham-Julian-Euell-Barry-Harris-2-Al-Heath-Jazz-At-PS-175/release/7901442
  23. I know this thread is about Hutcherson, but ep1str0phy should write more. I'd publish it.
  24. A true giant and indeed, a kind and cool guy. Met him only once -- he played in KC -- but he was generous with his time for this young fan. Furthermore, I'm sorry to hear about your mother CJ. That's terrible.
