yep. I think that's still around. The quintet sides (TCJQ 1967) are nutso. That's a Danish jazz LP I'd like to own someday...

Have both of those LPs. Both are quite good. Action was reissued on CD by Steeplechase maybe 10+ years ago?

Yup. He also played the tenor, and quite decently.

Four, plus the Dixon-Shepp Quartet and the split LP with Dixon's 7-tette and the NY Contemporary Five. Dixon had a contract with Savoy but for a variety of reasons felt it worthy to give the remaining albums he owed to Savoy to his students, and take on a role as a producer (and in at least one case, arranger). I forget the whole story, but he discusses it in Dixonia (and elsewhere).

Thanks for bumping this thread. The Thomas-Pelzer Limited LP on Vogel has been hitting me just right lately. I have Guitar Groove on CD, but as with most of my CDs, it's boxed up and buried. Must try to sort out where it is in the near future.

I really love the Marzette Watts LP on Savoy, but am doubtful that it would be up the alley of most people here. It's not a "perfect" record but it is, for me, an extremely enjoyable one. Bill Dixon plays piano on one cut, and they also do a version of the Dixon orchestral piece "Octobersong."

Bassist Noah Young (née Richard Youngstein) is not on the Schrick list. He died on Nov. 9th at 71.

LP in my experience is around $20. I've had it a few times.

Good deal on Tokyo Bound. That's a killer record.

Wooley and Vandermark (another of your faves, yuk yuk) have a duo project that does just that. It's really nice in my opinion.
