  1. ESG - Come Away With ESG - (99 Records) classic oddball new wave funk that's a great evening closer.
  2. Nice - have a Vogue UK pressing of that, which sounds glorious. Really fine record, both that and Awakening.
  3. Glenn Branca - The Ascension - (99 Records) guitar-army pummeling that remains quite enjoyable after all these years...
  4. Wow - that's pretty sick. Have a later, beautiful-sounding Stereo copy and was just listening to it the other night. It's a lovely album and despite the uncritical canonization of certain recordings, it's a beautiful transitional date that encapsulates well where he'd been and where he'd go.
  5. no need to justify... I've learned a lot from people on this board over the years and am okay with relegating myself to observer/pithy vinyl poster.
  6. the Deutsche Grammophon Iskra 1903 LP is better?
  7. Iskra 1903 - s/t - (Incus, blue label orig)
  8. I had that Konitz at one point. Should get it again -- it's nice.
  9. A bit more out-leaning, but New York Collage, which was reissued by NoBusiness on CD a couple/few years back, is also quite strong.
  10. Yep, got all the Green River 12"s. Great band. Had a CD on Sub Pop in High School and re-acquired the music maybe 15-17 years ago and they sound better to me these days than at age 15.
  11. ha, nah - just don't feel like listening to jazz at the moment! Was sadly unable to see them during their prime due to being underage (even though I was a huge fan at the time). Saw them later and felt like it was too slick and phoned-in, but the records from their first several years still hold up.
  12. yeah, bought a couple of the Polyvinyl reissues a while back as I wanted to hear them again -- it'd been well over a decade! The albums are good, mellow indie folk with a quiet power. Worth giving another shot 20 years on. Now: Mudhoney - Piece of Cake - (Reprise, German pressing)
  13. Ida - Tales of Brave Ida - (Polyvinyl)
  14. I haven't listened to either album in years, but I'm kind of with chewy here.
  15. Grateful Dead - Workingman's Dead - (Warner Bros., 1971 German Teldec pressing)
  16. Tenor Conclave - (Prestige/Victor JP)
  17. bought a sealed copy for $5 on the recommendation of others here. It's excellent. How is that Fall/Favors/Murray thing on Circle? I've never owned a copy.
  18. Rolf Kühn Jazz Group - Devil in Paradise - (MPS, GER)
  19. Bruce Palmer - The Cycle is Complete - (Verve Forecast, US promo) and, like very few copies, only a slight hint of cover wear.
  20. The Can - Soundtracks - (Liberty, GER orig)
  21. Sorry to hear this - never knew him or his playing, but will be sure to seek out the latter. Losing a friend is always very tough. My condolences.
  22. Walt Dickerson - Relativity - (New Jazz, DG) Jeff Clyne - Springboard - (Polydor, UK)
  23. Hekura: Yanomamo Shamanism from Southern Venezuela -- (Quartz, UK orig)
  24. I like Manafon a lot.
