  1. yeah, I remember that disc coming out but had been holding off, figuring one day I'd find or not be outbid on a copy. Took about 10 years but the internet came through. It's a strong slice of "wife-bothering music" indeed...
  2. Itaru Oki Trio - Murder Classroom - (Jazz Creaters [sic], JP)
  3. ha - yeah the double has always eluded me but it's definitely one at the top of my wants list. Maybe our Japanese pal can come up with a copy! now: Marzette Watts - Ensemble - (Savoy, US) just a damn good record that I listen to often.
  4. Reform Art Unit - w/ Alaeddin Adlernest - (RAU/Kovarik's Musikothek, Austria) re: the Henderson LP discussed above, I have a clean NY USA stereo pressing that I remember sounding good, though it's been ages since it's been on deck. Will have to rectify.
  5. I can see why TTK and others value her; yet I felt that I needed more or something else when listening to those Philips LPs. The doc is good and probably enough for me. YMMV.
  6. Idea: an effective and intriguing blend of jazz, classical, folk music, gospel and protest song into one compelling, powerfully-delivered and immediate slice (for starters). Alas, it's hard for me to feel much beyond a surface curio here, although her personal story is deep and really quite sad.
  7. ditto. the film is really, really good.
  8. What I've heard has been strong. I'll pick this up and the Karyobin reissue they're also doing (since I've never been able to score an LP!).
  9. The Traditional Folk Music Band (Romania) - Maramureș/Oaș - (Electrecord) really strong violin and vocal dances from the north of the country, beautiful on-location recordings.
  10. Amon Düül - Psychedelic Underground - (Metronome, GER orig) good for after the dinner guests leave...
  11. There was a silkscreened promo issue that preceded this, but I don't think too many were pressed.
  12. Volunteers is a hair's breadth second to Baxter's in my opinion. Great album.
  13. Saw him in Houston in '05 and had a blast. What a weirdo. RIP.
  14. RIP. Huge fan of the Airplane and he wrote some of their finest.
  15. I have had a few different editions over the years - now a Saba - and still cannot warm to it, despite the band. I don't know whether it's the recording or the performance, but it doesn't happen for me. Perhaps there are more invigorating concerts out there captured with less "dull" remove.
  16. The Harvey is quite good.
  17. Mark Harvey Quartet - In Concert - (Bush, US)
  18. ^ Indeed. Now, Stomu Yamash'ta & The New Herd - Metempsychosis - (Columbia, JP)
  19. Lee Konitz & Hans Koller - Plays / New Jazz Stars - (Vogue, JP) Nice split LP with a Konitz session rec. in Paris and Koller/Mangelsdorff/Hipp et al in Baden-Baden.
  20. FWIW, the $7,000 copy of Lee Morgan Indeed was not paid for and the item was relisted, ending at I believe a much lower price - I think around $2,500 (which is closer to the going rate for a clean first pressing).
  21. I bet... just have a 70s US blue label stereo pressing. It sounds okay but the music deserves a bit more "oomph" that I know is in there.
  22. Congrats! Took a day off from the day gig (needed) and now spinning: Jackie McLean - Tippin' the Scales - (BN King Japan orig)
  23. Lovely session. I have a UK pressing but it does have this jacket. Now: Music of Ethiopia - (Seven Seas, JP)
  24. FB link isn't working for me either and I'm definitely on Facebook.
