  1. Ok, so I've got some stacks of discs here, primarily good to quite good stuff. Some even "great." Rather than going through them all I'm going to do SEVEN ten-disc mystery lots for $15 shipped to a US address. One per person. Trust me, there will be no "turds" in these lots. Some lots will be more "avant-garde" and some a little more palatable, so let me know which you prefer (and the emphasis in these stacks seems to be on more, rather than less "out"). Nothing in bad condition. My fingers are crossed that you won't encounter a duplicate of something you already have but this is not guaranteed. Post here to reserve a spot and PM with your name and address. Paypal only please. They'll go out shortly! Seventy CDs - first seven gets 'em. There'll be another one of these again in about a month or so...
  2. ooh, nice - thanks! great set!
  3. nice - my folks went on my behalf to that gig as well and got a signed poster for me. caught them the other night at the Vanguard and the gig was superb. would like to have caught Burrell/Swell last night in Houston also... never seen the duo play, but the record they did for NoBusiness is really excellent.
  4. Giorgio Gaslini - Message - (BASF, IT orig) w/ Rutherford, Rava, Bedori, Urbani a.o.
  5. RIP. Only saw him once, in duo with Fred Van Hove, but he and they were fantastic. Listening to "Round About Mittweida" on LP right now.
  6. So I guess Braxton is moving to Portland, then?
  7. is this on Serie.WOC ? I think that is legit. I have an Overseas Japan pressing of this one, an excellent date indeed.
  8. sweet! my parents went on my behalf. Wish I could've been there.
  9. Robbie Basho - The Grail and the Lotus - (Takoma)
  10. Love those Mamlish and Yazoo covers from that period. Now spinning: Robbie Basho - The Seal of the Blue Lotus - (Takoma)
  11. Yes, Danish Debut is the original issue.
  12. Would have liked to have seen that performance. By the way, the drummer, Rashid Bakr, now goes by his given name Charles Downs, and is a very fine player. I'm also very fond of the Montmartre dates. They swing hard and move freely in around form. It's stunning, balletic music. I have both on Dutch Fontana LPs (one with a Marte Röling cover design).
  13. Now you're talking. I hear that Mats only plays gigs for this now:
  14. I should get these again. More my speed now than when I was first checking them out.
  15. I had this problem when interviewing Dave Holland. No Karyobin stories for me...
  16. I've not really had this problem too often, though I did misfile a Dexter Gordon live date and spent the better part of a year wondering whether or not I'd inexplicably sold it. Found it shelved rather far from its alphabetical home eventually. I actually emailed an old roommate to see if I'd left it with his records by mistake, I think.
  17. haha -- perhaps the house band for a private tasting of artisinal pulled pork sandwiches on East 5th.
  18. wonder what the private event is in Austin? a very Brotzmann wedding?
  19. wish I could be in Austin for this! Guess NYC is a losing proposition for Brotzm. these days unless it's something like the Vision Festival.
  20. Being transgender and cross-dressing are two different things.
  21. Ha, good point! Or... Miles made records with both of them. REOF I also dig immensely.
  22. Not sure what Prince and J.J. Johnson have to do with one another. Both are heavy in their own divergent ways.
  23. Intervall is the shit. I should get the reissue (have a reference rip of it) but part of me thinks that somehow, someday I'll score a nice OG...
  24. I thought Saturday was great. Initially seemed like it would be a trio with Lee and Oxley, but was glad that Krall and Sjöström were on board. Much, much better and more together than the opening concerts were in my estimation.
