I thought Saturday was great. Initially seemed like it would be a trio with Lee and Oxley, but was glad that Krall and Sjöström were on board. Much, much better and more together than the opening concerts were in my estimation.
Yoshi Wada - Off the Wall - (Saltern reissue)
great-sounding reissue from the tapes by Wada's son. Used to have the original on FMP/SAJ, but traded it to a friend who'd hooked me up with a bunch of ridiculous jazz LPs. Felt okay letting go of the original - considering - but am glad to be able to have this music on deck again.
Have heard Borca in non-Lyons contexts and she carries her own just fine. There's a non-commercially-released thing with Irène Schweizer, Parker and Cyrille that is particularly good.
Indeed, I find and buy things often! Some of them are even good and affordable...
I have a crisp HMV mono of "Coltrane" that sounds amazing. I do not believe that they used RVG stampers but I'll re-check mine.
Raymond Boni - Rêve en Couleurs - (Palm, FR)
thanks to homefromtheforest for the hookup on this one; had the Futura and a couple others but never this title. Very strong.
