  1. Three tracks from the aborted second volume are on the Mosaic set, but I've never heard them. Joachim Kuhn, Sound of Feelings (BYG). Good one. The tracks from X-75 Volume II I enjoyed, but haven't listened to in quite a while. That's more of a reflection on my time and day-to-day pecadilloes than the music.
  2. the Sirone is not expensive. You'll get one.
  3. Did Stereolab (the band) really coin the term "Space Age Bachelor Pad Music?" I think their LP with that title is the first I became aware of it. I know the Esquivel comp by that name came later. TTK, you know this stuff - what's up? Edit for IPA-induced grammar issues.
  4. Art Farmer/Phil Woods - What Happens?... - (Campi, JP issue)
  5. yes, Ratchet Baars is good.
  6. okay, Dyer sucks, but what amazes me is that we're basically still having the 'anti-jazz' debate in 2014/2015.
  7. maybe true. I could not escape the irony that he was holding onto several 60s Elektra blues LPs (12"). The dickhead part of me wanted to be like "haven't you taken enough?!?"
  8. At first I thought he was just another aged Austin hippie hanging out in the South Congress/South First district. Which I guess, technically, he was...
  9. happens all the time. My discogs "wantlist" is pretty full of dumb shit I know deep down is unnecessary.
  10. I was there and enjoyed myself. His bass playing wasn't happening; I much prefer his piano or reeds playing.
  11. I heard it was less, more like $200M. Still a lot of bread! In my one interaction with him, he seemed like a nice bloke, very chill. Although he could have possibly put us closer to an ebola cure or something with that kinda change.
  12. Had an interesting convo about Streets - part of it, I think, is in the NYCJR from May or June. Listened to some of the 1993 releases with Wimberly, Parker and Vattel Cherry last night. Not one dimensional but still not easy for me to crack.
  13. yeah, I have the old FD vinyl, which sounds fantastic. Great date!
  14. Yeah, it is a wonderful record. The tough part would be replicating that corrugated pasted on sleeve.
  15. I think the Lenox Avenue Breakdown cover was based on a really nice Niklaus Troxler painting. love that shot of Harold Land in front of the Watts Towers, which I guess you could call a massive sculptural installation...
  16. Components = stuff from the fastener bins at a hardware store, not architectural details.
  17. Doxy is reissuing it and they are not legit from what I gather.
  18. wouldn't mind hearing it even if Misja is no longer part of the ensemble.
  19. Nope! Not at all. Knottily-themed large ensemble 'modal jazz' out of the Gil Evans school.
  20. Will grip; had a lesser copy on LP that I traded not too long ago. It's a very good record.
  21. Ooh - yeah, I gotta make a trek to Vancouver to hang with you guys. I'll be rolling into Van in December if anyone is interested in a get-together ! Alas, I'll have to wait until next year but I trust you three will have a pint in my absence!
  22. I only knew of delicious chicken shawm.
