  1. Wow. Would love to hear more from this group, should it ever turn up!
  2. Thanks Paul. Both Pauls - Secor & Rutherford, the maestro. I have been spending the week with pianist-composer Burton Greene, another artist who has struggled for recognition and financial security and yet soldiers on with the music. Gotta laugh to keep from cryin'.
  3. Yes, it's a classic. My friend Andrew Raffo Dewar is writing a book on the group and their activities. Also not to be missed is David Behrman's Wave Train album on Alga Marghen, which collects some related music under the composer's direction.
  4. Can't wait for the reissue. I had a vinyl copy but the pressing had some issues that were severe enough to warrant its retirement (I got it sealed but it must have been a bum apple). The music is excellent.
  5. If you ever have the opportunity to check out Lydia Lunch w/ Retrovirus (Algis Kizys, Lesaew Retlaw, Bob Bert), stop at nothing and do it - absolutely incredible show last night. The great Wharton Tiers was running the sound. I can't guarantee you'll also be able to stand next to Debbie Harry during the gig, however.

  6. Nah, it's around $50-$70 these days. The Sonic Arts Union LP also gets there sometimes – that's one of my favorite "new music" albums. Mainstream label psych records can get pretty expensive as well.
  7. Hackamore Brick - One Kiss Leads To Another - (Kama Sutra)
  8. The Eric Revis w/ Davis & Cyrille is quite good. I cannot keep up at all, with any of it.
  9. So I'm trying to parlay all those research skills into a job with the Freakonomics crew... me and probably 5,000 other (lovable) weirdos.

  10. RIP. Masterful player, and too young to go.
  11. The AMM performance is a series of excerpts from a concert that was later released in full on Matchless (The Crypt 12 June 68). Still need the MEV on Horo! And my labels are also reversed.
  12. I think I grabbed it from Colin and I've already forgotten its specifics.
  13. Have seen this one a few times but never owned it. Glad to know it's above "bootleg par" and has some solid playing on it. Will keep an eye out.
  14. Ah. Never heard of the label.
  15. A good friend to loan something that rare!
  16. Who is reissuing El Skid? I have it on LP, good session.
  17. Burton Greene - Presenting Burton Greene - (Columbia 2-eye stereo)
  18. Roswell Rudd - Everywhere - (Impulse, mono)
  19. Yeah, I am most familiar with his work in the New Directions Quartet w/ Charles, Waldron and Addison Farmer. But he's great on that stuff. RIP.
  20. Ha, now you are on to a few records I actually have as well! Great stuff. Now: Booker Ervin - The Blues Book - (Transatlantic UK pressing)
  21. Sorry to hear - indeed, hope he recovers.
  22. Indeed; I've enjoyed hearing him live and on record. Lives in NYC these days, nice dude as well.
