  1. I used to pass that one by for like $7.99 at Jazz Record Mart (though by that time I had & enjoyed the Tapscotts and Mirandas on Nimbus). Now it seems to go for some change. Oh well...
  2. Yeah, I did the same thing - sold a couple of high-dollar LPs I wasn't all that excited about and bought this with the cash. Just got mine today as well and it looks like a pretty great/exhaustive set. I haven't checked to see if we'll be dealing with any needle-drops but so far the presentation appears top notch.
  3. Jazzman are in the UK and Kindred Spirits are out of Holland, but beyond that I'm not sure.
  4. That happens - it's drilled right, but the plating process was somehow off. That's my guess, anyway.
  5. Huh.
  6. Yeah, I think that's all of the tape that survived. Eeko is to blame!
  7. Unfortunately, the way the LP market is today, so are the "originals." My assumption is that the label is winding down and this was their way to "send off" and celebrate. I agree that selective and affordable reissues would have been a nice way to go, but that just might not be in the cards at this point. Curious to see what happens to the catalog once the box is gone.
  8. The Flying Luttenbachers - The Void - (Troubleman Unlimited)
  9. If I had law librarian experience and was fluent in French, you're damn right I'd apply to the UN Librarian position that's up right now... that would be super cool!

  10. Listening to Carnegie Hall now - still a fine set.
  11. Sometime I will get my dad to properly recount the story of going over to the Brubecks' house in Norwalk and playing their piano with Dave, four hands on deck.
  12. When I first heard his music I was absolutely NOT interested (my dad was/is a major fan). I came to appreciate it later and am glad I came around.
  13. Holy crap. Not inevitable and quite a long run, but damn... RIP.
  14. The America pressings I've seen for routinely cheap prices on eBay/etc. $15? Great sessions.
  15. Right, assume it's through Dave and the folks at Nameless Sound.
  16. I have this one on LP - it's a doozy.
  17. Wow.
  18. Three more job apps down, 179700890847908708 to go in the foreseeable future.

  19. Gosh, he's a young guy too. Wishing him a speedy recovery.
  20. My Dad Is Dead - The Taller You Are, the Shorter You Get - (Homestead)
  21. I do have Blown Bone in its Emanem CD incarnation. Good stuff.
  22. I have several that I enjoy... Jerome Cooper/Kalaparusha/Frank Lowe trio Positions 3 6 9; Sunny Murray Charred Earth (Burrell, Lancaster, Bob Reid); Frank Lowe Doctor Too Much (Dara, L Smith, F Williams, P Wilson) really stick out.
  23. I have many, many "hipper" records to listen to than "Engine Takes to the Water" but sometimes it just feels so right to put this on. Party like it's 1995.

  24. I don't have that one. Will have to nab it sometime.
