  1. Coltrane - Impassioned Tenor-Man (Alto) Pretty wonky-sounding bootleg; I assume the tape speed is off because the LP plays "normally."
  2. Just got back from NYC to find a Nessa parcel waiting. Pumped to crack into these later!
  3. Poignant release in light of Mr. Noordijk's passing.
  4. Got mine. I haven't A/B'ed it with my Mbari LP (which is in very nice condition and always sounded good), but the CD is very punchy sounding, moreso than I remember the session to be. I think it suits the music for sure - great as always. Glad this is now in a much more available format.
  5. Damn, what a shame!
  6. I don't know how many of you are familiar with the two (fantastic) LPs made by Fraser & DeBolt in the '70s for Columbia, but apparently Ms. DeBolt passed away the other day. Sad to hear this - a friend was trying to get some of their archive released (though he's not the person mentioned in the article). Daisy DeBolt
  7. Oh shit, sorry to hear this. I too missed out on a couple of (pricey) chances to see him. RIP to one of the greats.
  8. Yeah, that is the pressing that I have, too. Happy enough with it that I never went for broke on the Danish Debut. What a record.
  9. Oh wow. Sad news.
  10. I'll keep an eye out for a decent 7167 jacket... seems like I've run into nice covers with whipped vinyl a fair amount.
  11. I've had a few Liberty originals of this and none sounded that great pressing-wise, even though the music (and cover!) are strong.
  12. Talibam shows consist of a lot of weird antics. Chaos is just part of the gig. Connecting an eye with a fist usually isn't, however.
  13. My favorite vinyl side is Chronic Town w/ "Wolves, Lower," "Gardening At Night" and "Boxcars." If you want to hear the horror of what might have been, check out the Stephen Hague produced demo of Catapult. That brought back some hairy memories of synth bands of the early '80s. Nice Big Black reference in the blog title.
  14. Tempting! Would the shipping be included or extra?
  15. Yeah, MG is a cool guy - had fun with him in Austin, too.
  16. Long time no see, Michel! Indeed Caddy for Daddy is a classic!
  17. Whoa.
  18. Georges Arvanitas Trio - Cocktail for Three - (Pretoria, PJC reissue)
  19. Completely agree. And not only the bootlegs. Some of the Horos were awful. Yeah, Horos are often laughable, on the BYG trip or even worse! I have a few Ingos including the Cecil; I don't listen to them much but they're interesting to have around. The sound isn't great but the pressings appear to be okay.
  20. Me too! Great cover.
  21. Groundhogs - Blues Obituary - (Imperial)
  22. Ghost-- I know you got Big Ears and while I disagree with you about even the IRS era ("Life's Rich Pageant" hype + vacuity soured me on these clowns forever), did you follow them backwards to, say, Gene Clark? His catalog, with the Byrds but especially solo, is tremendous, with almost no low-lights, only a cpl period missteps. He might also be the greatest folk/rock songwriter of the era besides Hunter/Garcia. Somehow I had hope that Troy Davis would be commuted. Topic for another thread. Anyway, not Michael Stipe:
  23. The really early stuff is decent but I've never really cared for/about them. They should have quit a long time ago. Hadn't thought of it that way.
  24. And a comic/blockbuster font on this one
