  1. Anyone ever hear the trio record with Larry Young, Grant Green, and Elvin Jones: Into Something? Very nice. Quartet: some guy named Sam Rivers is on it as well.
  2. Not to poop in the punch bowl, but stereo Liberty pressings aren't that expensive. I think I got mine, a very clean copy, for around $25.
  3. you've got some nice stuff. That Stanko/Vesala looks killer (I only know Twet).
  4. Aha, there seem to be two different covers. I had only ever seen the one that that actually has Mobley, which I assume is a second corrected version. But yes, who is the tenorist on the other one? Top one looks like Johnny Griffin to me...
  5. And Scott LaFaro, for that matter. Also Clifford Brown and Richie Powell. Also Bob Berg was killed in a car wreck. Eddie Costa, too, right?
  6. Was that recorded in Chicago, or what was the deal?
  7. Wow - RIP. Looking forward to reading that interview.
  8. Ah, that was going to come out on Tony Levin's Rare Music label (which I understand is still going in Tony's absence). Either way, looking forward to hearing it.
  9. Yes, it's on Material's One Down LP, with that song also issued as a 12" single. Not bad. Though IIRC it's a Robert Wyatt song.
  10. Haven't pulled that fine one out in a while. Nor the Wallin above. I need to dig back into some of these LPs again.
  11. That was what I thought, too, though someone recently countered/corrected that claim.
  12. That's been a symptom of a lot of NJ LPs that I've had. Some worse than others.
  13. Some thoughts here.
  14. Dusty Groove also has (or had) it. I've never succeeded in emailing her but someone, somewhere, must be able to, else the Ogun CDs wouldn't be floating around in the US. Congrats on the Moholo-Moholo duo, Alexander.
  15. Was just listening to this the other night. Fine one indeed. Chuck said something a while back about the Riker's Island LP being much, much better in mono. Does that hold true for other Audio Fidelity LPs?
  16. Franky Douglas is still around, AFAIK. As for the Music Improvisation Company LP on ECM, it's a fine one, though I might prefer the Incus a little.
  17. Really? That's interesting.
  18. Yeah, the whole thing is pretty ridiculous if you ask me.
  19. All my dealings with Birka Jazz over the years have been splendid. There were two "over-graded" LPs once and the proprietor sent me replacement, minty copies with no hassle, not asking for the VG ones back. That was unexpected indeed.
  20. Fascinating read on your blog - I only know the Gilson 10". Thanks!
  21. RIP. I haven't seen as many films of his as I should have, but aim to fix that. NYT link.
  22. This one I'm not familiar with. Cool!
