  1. Alan had a great band (or two) to help him out. Too bad very little of his work after this was as good - Tes Esat, for all Windo's fierce playing, pales in discographical comparison.
  2. no Interesting record, but no from me too. Alan was really interesting but he wasn't trying to do what Wayne was. I love this album, but it's not in the same category as any of the Wayne BNs (or probably any of his recent work, either). As for Leslie Waldron, she (or he) is only on one Noah Howard LP as far as I know. Nobody I've talked to on the "scene" then remembered this person other than, maybe, "the name sounds familiar." Waldron is mentioned (by name) as being a 212 Artists Colony regular in the book accompanying the Aboriginal Music Society set on Eremite.
  3. Never had a problem with them from the consumer side of things. Glad to hear that JLH is pressing more of this gem.
  4. Barney Wilen - Dear Prof. Leary - (MPS)
  5. Ah cool - I only knew about the annual thing. Hope it can continue - after all, I plan to put in some work for at least the next issue! I know Haney's music but didn't realize he was also in the publishing business.
  6. I'm not surprised. I think it is a much better record. Some people like apples, some people like oranges, and some people like both.
  7. Aha - ubu, your explanation makes sense.
  8. I am curious why the Kuhn Brothers date was reissued on CD by MPS, since it's an Impulse session. I mean, I know both of them had MPS dates later, but...
  9. Sheesh - that's great news, really. Although my review runs in December; hope there are some copies left for readers to purchase!
  10. ah, don't know Crook. Thanks.
  11. Yeah, as they say "our loss is your gain." Picked up the Braxton piano music as well as some others I'd been curious about but never picked up. I'm sure I'll go for another ten on my next paycheck though the amount of time I have to listen to what I *should* be digging into is barely extant (no headphones at work!).
  12. Yeah, an A-1 set. Many thanks Karl. More words soon.
  13. Huh. I have some of his group discs and they're quite good.
  14. $20 shipped gets these. The extra music on the Lowe makes this release much, much heavier than it was on initial release.
  15. Oh dammit. RIP - this is very sad news. He is a fantastic and fascinating musician.
  16. Huh. I don't have the Encore set, just a Japanese Toshiba vinyl of the regular ol' BN. Fine session though I guess in subsequent years the CBBB records have thrilled me more.
  17. I was just saying I wasn't happy he died, dude.
  18. I have enjoyed enough of Corea's music to say that generally, the cheesy record covers and past its prime fusion aside, I like him. Vitous & Haynes, Circle, some of the solo stuff, early RTF, etc. is all quite good to totally killer.
  19. Yeah, Trombolenium is quite good. Neuph, too. There is much great Rutherford out there in about every configuration imaginable. I'm sad he passed before "we" were ready but he left a lot of work to be heard.
  20. Welcome! Love the D-O blog!
  21. Bitch Magnet - Ben Hur - (Glitterhouse) Too bad their reunion tour is not taking them anywhere in the US so far.
  22. I've seen Wierbos solo - great - but never owned any of his solo recordings. There's also a solo Vinko Globokar on FMP (vinyl), which I don't believe has been reissued.
