  1. Just in time for the holidays and the new year. Good to see you back & on the road to recovery. Cheers!
  2. That's true, for some of them at least.
  3. Guess I oughta get the Mosaic select...
  4. Curtis Amy & Frank Butler - Groovin' Blue - (Pacific Jazz, UK Vogue pressing) Tremendous session, bought recently & arrived in today's mail.
  5. Agreed! Judging from Mike's discography, I NEED that Dragon CD. Dayum...
  6. Isn't he? Saga of the Outlaws sent me on Tyler binge. I hadn't listened to him in a fairly long time, and had him in the back of my mind as just a very good Ayler-wannabe. Now my appreciation has really deepened. Tyler has a beautiful and unique approach that is all his own, especially in blue pitch shadings. Indeed, I don't have his later work, which I need to get a hold of. The Nessa, Ak-Ba, and Mustevic stuff (not to mention Sixty Minute Man) is all stellar. I've had the theme from "Voyage from Jericho" in my head for days, since last spinning Live in Europe. Love the cover photo on Missing Link.
  7. A download for me as well. I'm going to try to start participating in BFTs a little more (esp. as I'm doing one in 2010). Looking forward to it, Jeff!
  8. Nice!
  9. I hope to be a Groovisimo by that point.
  10. I too got confused & thought the thread was about the great altoist. Well, RIP to one who was obviously a British jazz institution.
  11. Charles Tyler is awesome.
  12. Damn, Deeley, that's a serious habit! I don't *think* I've bought that much in 09...
  13. Hey all, I've signed on as a co-host for The Cutting Edge, adventurous jazz programming on Austin community radio. We are on Sunday nights from 7 to 8:30 (Central Time), myself and primary host Rick Kendrick alternating weeks. I did some college radio as an undergrad as well as a little dabbling at WNUR while I was in grad school. Needless to say, I'm still a bit rusty and blubbery, but luckily there's a seasoned vet around to keep it all in line. KOOP streams live on the web here and our facebook page is here. Thanks!
  14. Lunchtime spin of a recent acquisition: Bill Barron - Motivation - (Savoy)
  15. Winston is at it again. Douchebag. And I'll add that I hope it brings more attention, positively, to Larry Ochs' wonderful playing.
  16. I've been buying records from Birka Jazz since they started as an online shop. It's a good place to go for Scandinavian stuff at reasonable prices. Their grading is solid, and the one mistake I encountered, they sent me another copy and told me to keep the defective one. No record shops do that in the States!
  17. Coltrane Plays the Blues - (Atlantic OG Stereo)
  18. My favorite American electronic LP is still the Sonic Arts Union on Mainstream. Pretty damaged.
  19. Oh shit, that's sad news. As one who liked her looks and spunk, she'll be missed. Things definitely went downhill for her once she hooked up with that Monjack tool.
  20. I'll be sure to do that. Ben sent me the Dixon and the Melee/Joe Morris so look for writeups soon.
  21. Bill Dixon - Weight Counterweight - Broken Research This is VERY nice.
  22. Dan / Amir, if you'll hold stuff until after I've done my Xmas shopping, then I will PM you.
  23. I haven't got that Odean either. Have to change that.
