Check out the sleeve note Clifford with Mr Trunk saying how he picked up that Argo 'Cold Mountain' for £3 in a London back street Classical Music shop. Those days are long gone, alas. As for the ABC distribution situation, it may have been more akin to Cadence Jazz/Northcountry at that time. Actually, Beggars' Banquet/Matador/etc. is maybe a better analogy. For the record, though, I did consider them to be a "major" in the 1960s.

To put it more clearly, they had a license to issue a few titles in a limited edition during a short time period. With that time up, they have continued to press more product and are not paying ESP for this material. It's fairly well-done stuff, but it isn't legit any more, even if at one time it was.

Stollman told me it was not legit, as Abraxas' contract to use the ESP name is long over with.

I think the seed was originally planted years ago in The Onion, iirc.
