  1. Agreed, Miller's fantastic. No point in comparing the two, and hell, I don't even give a damn about the White Stripes, really. I do think that Meg is a fine drummer for the music that she plays.
  2. Amancio D'Silva - Konkan Dance - (Qbico) Not being able to afford the Landsowne titles, this'll have to do...
  3. "IF YOU were alive - I mean REALLY ALIVE - in the 1970s, what LPs did you avoid?????!!!!???? Jeff Lorber??? Bob James??? Chick Corea??? (I mean I REALLY like his stuff with Pete La Roca, but I know it can't all be that great !!!)
  4. Check out the sleeve note Clifford with Mr Trunk saying how he picked up that Argo 'Cold Mountain' for £3 in a London back street Classical Music shop. Those days are long gone, alas. Strangely, I have a couple of digger friends who still have that kind of luck. They don't live anywhere near me, of course...
  5. Don't have that one. Seems like one that Dusty Groove would've had, when they carried Rearward/Schema discs.
  6. The original is cheap, too. I get the feeling Guy doesn't have a turntable.
  7. Giorgio Buratti - Don't Bother Me - (Durium orig) w/ Eraldo Volante, Santi Palumbo, Sergio Fanni, Lino Liguori and Carlo Milano.
  8. As for the ABC distribution situation, it may have been more akin to Cadence Jazz/Northcountry at that time. Actually, Beggars' Banquet/Matador/etc. is maybe a better analogy. For the record, though, I did consider them to be a "major" in the 1960s.
  9. Then: Michael Garrick - Moonscape - (Trunk reissue) Now: Howard Riley - Discussions - (Opportunity)
  10. Got the Garrick today in a shop here. The owners, who I'm friends with, were kinda surprised I was so pumped to buy it. "Piano trio? Some British guy?" What do they know...
  11. Kinda reminds me of the "Babies are Stupid" article...
  12. Agreed on all fronts.
  13. It'll be back. I hope next time they press it, they keep the original artwork intact. Maybe a Japanese Mini-LP version?
  14. To put it more clearly, they had a license to issue a few titles in a limited edition during a short time period. With that time up, they have continued to press more product and are not paying ESP for this material. It's fairly well-done stuff, but it isn't legit any more, even if at one time it was.
  15. Stollman told me it was not legit, as Abraxas' contract to use the ESP name is long over with.
  16. I think the seed was originally planted years ago in The Onion, iirc.
  17. Sonic Youth - Evol - (SST orig) maybe their most consistent LP?
  18. Jason Gillenwater. He's in NYC, young and on the make. Check him out!
  19. I need to snap this up... and Flexi Sex, too!
  20. Happy belated - hope 'twas a good'n!
  21. I really need more Ra records to get hip on this...
  22. But... the cultural implications of those artists were mostly played out on the independent labels. Same goes for jazz.
  23. Yeah, and pre-orders are being taken, I believe. (Don't say I told you, but Forced Exposure are selling it now, against ESP's wishes) Great disc, whether you get it now or in a month!
