  1. Big John Patton should be medically proscribed as a stress reliever too.
  2. I got an email sales order back from them - so far things seem to be proceeding OK.
  3. Sounds like a pretty likely candidate. Doesn't he live in Edinburgh? Review copies, I guess..
  4. Yes, 'From the Hot Afternoon' is a very good stress reliever. Anything on Blue Note by Stanley Turrentine, Lou Donaldson or Horace Silver also does the trick.
  5. Royal Command Performance? Look forward to listening in to the link. Thanks !
  6. Kenny Clarke/Francy Boland Big Band 'Off Limits' (Rearward reissue)
  7. Verve UK put out an excellent series of Mulligan collaborations many years ago on vinyl called 'Gerry Mulligan Meets the Sax Giants'. 3 volumes - includes much of the material with Hodges, Webster, Getz and Desmond. Vol 2 is a particular sentimental favourite.
  8. O heck, they are scattered right through the 20-odd LPs. . It looks like a pretty good sampler of the Nat Cole Mosaic so - if you like Nat - go for it !
  9. A rat ran under my car a couple of days ago and somehow missed the wheel. I live in a rural UK area backing onto native woodland and see them quite often (indeed I've spotted the occasional rat, shrew, vole and mouse in my garden). They are quite harmless as these are the wild species. The local cats do the work of keeping them in check. I just make sure that all potential entry points into the home are kept sealed. The only instance I've had of one getting in was a vole some years ago and I gave up trying to catch it. After a few days the poor critter was found dead on the floor of the study.
  10. I've checked the Mosaic booklet and all of this material looks to be included.
  11. Mal Waldron 'Sweet Love, Bitter' soundtrack (Impulse, mono)
  12. Is there not a story that we are never, on average, more than 10 feet away from one of them (whether in sewer, basement etc.) ?
  13. About 20 degrees and sunny clear blue skies here today. For mid October this is very mild indeed.
  14. I'll report back when I receive the boxes. Fingers crossed.
  15. Tubby Hayes 'Return Visit' (Fontana stereo). With 'Jimmy Gloomy' and RRK
  16. I was thinking of the two Grolnick albums compiled on the 'Complete Blue Note' doubletime CD set ('Weaver of Dreams' and 'Nightown'). Very different musical styles but theres something about the fierce sense of purpose and - I guess - lack of recognition/limited recording opportunities as leaders that these two composer/arrangers share.
  17. I wish - Just the 30 at $100 a pop unfortunately. Incredible !
