  1. CD3 - Particularly for the 'Sound Pieces' tracks.
  2. That's four votes: you, me, Bol and Romualdo... :tup :tup Vocalion have now put out so much of the previously rare Joe Harriott Lansdowne Series material and with much of the earlier stuff also on CD (Proper etc.) such a set - although a fantastic option - has probably now been overtaken by events (sadly). Ditto. What's missing? (though of course the thought is beautiful!) Hum Dono?
  3. Sad news - shocking accident. RIP.
  4. Old Macdonald Harold Macmillan Mac The Knife
  5. Didn't the Oliver Nelson box include a lot of his Impulse! material? It had 'The Kennedy Dream' and 'Sound Pieces' on it (but not the 'Live In Los Angeles'). Good prompt to dig it out for a listen.. 8. The Daily Telegraph has an obituary posted today. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/culture-obituaries/music-obituaries/10094571/Mulgrew-Miller.html I'd completely forgotten that I'd seen him perform with the Tony Williams Quintet, as well. The comment about 'Interview Music' is spot on.

  10. Clunky - the sound of the Helen Merrill on the Mosaic Single CD is probably a lot better than the Milestone LP (..gets hit with bolt of lightning..). Really excellent music !

  14. Nice one with the 'Alligator Bogaloo'.
  15. Yeah, I plan on checking out the Mark Lockheart 'Ellington'. Trish Clowes is going to clash with Leon Greening's Trio. Spoilt for choices - I'll bear in mind your recommendation though. Hopefully though they have more luck at Swanage with the weather this year. Everything was stacked against it last year with the rain deluge in the marquees. This year we need some heat and sun so I can enjoy my ice creams and check out the Punch & Judy show on the sea-front..
  16. Peter Gabriel Angel Gabriel Angel Clare
  17. Just put my booking in for Swanage in mid-July. Unfortunately Alan Skidmore is no longer on the bill. Some real good artists though, including Bobby Wellins/Kate Williams, Clark Tracey, Gilad Azmon, Steve Melling, Tony Kofi and Lianne Carol. Plus Mr Barnes, of course.. Ringwood Ales on draft too
  18. Mervyn King The Procrastinator Lee Morgan
  19. Totally agree - an outstanding track.

  21. And there was me thinking that this thread was about the Naim Audio 'Olive' series..
