  1. That's the same pressing I have of that one too. Came from Paris Jazz Corner, come to think of it. Did HMV send a job lot over there?
  2. Benny Golson 'Gettin' With It' (New Jazz DG mono)
  3. Never heard the Japanese CD of 'Total Eclipse' but of all the copies of this I have (Liberty blue/white LP, UA blue label LP, French Pathe Marconi 80s LP, 90s reissue CD) the Liberty blue/white LP is the best by quite a long way. Seems to be quite a bit of high-end roll off and low sound/noise on the tapes though.
  4. Leonard Sachs Andrew Sachs Manuel
  5. HEY PORCY!!!!! How have you been? Welcome back!!! MG I'll second that. Nice to see you back again !
  6. I wasn't expecting to be a big fan of the material in the older sets when I started out with Mosaic but over the years their appeal has got better and better and been a real eye-opener to talents I would otherwise have missed. Some real scholarship has gone into the putting together of those sets by Scott and co. and the sonic sources that they have dug out have often been incredible (must be a world-wide mafia of 78rpm collectors meeting up in secret once in a while ).

    A CD-R of a set of needle-drops. Great !
  8. I really like this t-shirt that they are offering on the site -
  9. Sad news - and sorry to hear this. RIP.
  10. In that case you need a Tardis to take you to Tower Sunset Boulevard circa 1999 with the racks full of Conns, all of the Fantasy reissues in stock, a whole shelf of Japanese imports and the early Sony/Miles boxes just hitting the tarmac ! Totally agree with regard to the personal feelings for Mosaic. They have led to some wonderful musical discoveries for me. Don't usually pre-order these days though (the Mingus was an exception) and if I can buy here in Europe that's the route I prefer to take. US/Europe shipping $ hit is a real pain..
  11. I remember seeing the Jack Montrose group back in the 90s, playing some of those Montrose/Gordon arrangements. Good stuff.

  17. Coltrane Complete Prestige Box CD2. 'Mating Call'.

  21. Bull Durham John Bull Churchill
  22. That clip of Bruce Turner's Jump Band is great ! Colin Bates on piano, by the look of it.
  23. That's interesting. I have a 77 Records test pressing of that Pete Brown session. Picked up at Mole Jazz for £1 !
  24. Happy Birtthday Erik - hope it's a great one ! It's ALWAYS Erik's birthday!
  25. It will be interesting to see what the causes for this one were. Complacency, ineffective safety management culture, lack of enforcement/cutting of corners and failure to think outside the box when considering 'worst case scenarios' in the safing systems (and maintaining/checking them properly) no doubt are pretty high on the potential causal list.
