  1. I think that one came out not too long after Evans passed away and was released under Gordon Beck's name. Nice one !
  2. Yes, 'Jazzwise' has given it a rave review - it;s certainly on my (ever growing) list, having enjoyed the 'Later Octets' and seeing that one live. Stan still certainly has the chops !
  3. Is that Jackie Battle with Miles? - in which case the 1971 date would line up.

  8. I guess some of us can always stick the new CDs in the Mosaic black box.
  9. Thanks for that Roger - I see 'Jazzwise' also gives it a great writeup this month too, so I'm tempted. An interesting and stylistically varied band by the look of it, with excellent Bristol-based players like Kevin Figes and Ben Waghorn on board.
  10. I remember hearing the news in the car on CBC Alberta radio and being totally dumbstruck - although I'd heard about a week ago that he was in a very serious condition. Definitely time to play some Miles today.
  11. Ah - great memories of that very band in that very club !
  12. Dickie Bird Percy Edwards Percy The Plonker
  13. That is a fantastic DVD and Budd Johnson's performance in the first, Belgian TV performance is the highlight for me (closely followed by Julius Watkins). In fact, good though the Swiss performance on that DVD is, there seems to be a noticeable drop in energy and depth of ensemble sound compared with the Belgian show which I put down in large part to Johnson not being present. 'Passion' - yes, that entirely sums up the Budd Johnson performance on that first show. 100% committed.
  14. Cordon Brown The Stranglers The Boston Strangler
  15. Ronnell Bright Ronald McDonald Ronnie Reagan
  16. Hagar The Horrible Ed Balls Mrs Balls
  17. Nucleus 'Elastic Rock' (BGO reissue)
  18. Happy Birthday Mr Rivers ! In person he is way younger than his years - here's wishing him all the best. Time to put on his Mosaic big box vinyl to celebrate.
  19. In case Jim doesn't re-post:
