  1. Might be worth cancelling and pre-ordering with Amazon Italy! http://www.amazon.it/Movin-Complete-Verve-Studio-Recordings/dp/B005CAAUGM/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1317794847&sr=1-1 Asuming the Italian economy doesn't melt down..
  2. Roy Schneider 'Jaws' Eddie Lockjaw Davis
  3. No brainer. Unmissable ! (or you could take the Strata-East vinyl route)
  4. The Onzy Matthews Select is definitely worth getting. Anyone who enjoyed the Gerald Wilson big box will probably give it the thumbs up. I haven't got the Jonah Jones single either and will possibly pass - unless someone adds a post raving about it.
  5. My vote goes to the Farrell album with the eye floating in a bowl of peach segments. Yuck !
  6. I'd have to be forcibly extracted with a wrench so I'll stay clear ! Japanese reissue wet-dream.
  7. I'm having to open all doors at 6am just to cool the place down !
  8. Damn ! Hope things are OK at Mosaic..
  9. Been listening to the repeat of the Graham Collier interview on BBC Jazz Library. That one is essential listening - especially in view of Graham's recent passing.
  10. Interesting - I assume that that is the 'Status'-era issue from the mid-60s. The UK Transatlantic LP has the same design.
  11. You really know how to live the Jazz Life don't you, sidewinder! 3rd harvest this season ! - and there's still more to come. I always said that the blackberries within an arc of 20 miles around this neck of the woods were the best on the planet and I don't think I'm far wrong.
  12. You don't have to go that far. Overcast here this morning - after a spooky red sunrise. Really? Absolutely superb down here. Painting all complete and enough time to harvest the blackberries along the lane at the front of my place. Bliss ! Hadrian's Wall was beyond their comfort zone, even then. Of course, not many 'real' Romans served there - more likely troops from the subject territories of Germania, Bosnia, Turkey, Romania etc. It always makes me laugh when I hear about our chief export to the Roman Empire back in those times. An oil-impregnated woollen cloak for keeping the weather out, worthy of Winter hobbit fashion. Sort of "proto-hoody".
  13. $25 is a pretty good deal. As you say, the vinyl of this one sounds very good. I think mine cost about £20 and I thought I'd got a pretty good deal too. Certainly not a mint copy though.
  14. Nice !
  15. 3rd day of hot conditions and cloudless skies coming up today - painbrushes at the ready. Weather seems to be crap North of Newcastle..
  16. Fantastic weather the last few days. Perfect for painting the windows.
  17. Gerry Mulligan Concert Jazz Band, CDs 1 and 2
  18. Blind Lemon Pie Jack Lemon Walter Mathau
  19. 'Jutta Hipp/With Zoot Sims' (Toshiba-EMI)
  20. I think that one came out not too long after Evans passed away and was released under Gordon Beck's name. Nice one !
  21. Yes, 'Jazzwise' has given it a rave review - it;s certainly on my (ever growing) list, having enjoyed the 'Later Octets' and seeing that one live. Stan still certainly has the chops !
